The current MYP for Redcar & Cleveland, Gabrielle Shaw, 18, had her term extended due to the pandemic, but managed to visit the the House of Commons just before the first lockdown. “I really enjoyed my time there, it was just before the election. It was a great experience.”
The new Member of Youth Parliament will be announced for Redcar and Cleveland shortly. Seven school pupils aged 12 to 16 have been chosen to run for the prestigious post. The vote count is currently underway. Good luck to everyone involved 💫
Very honoured to have been able to represent the North East today in a meeting with Jacob Rees-Mogg along with other MYPs from across the UK, what an amazing experience to discuss Climate Change, Knife Crime and Child Poverty.
A great first virtual convention being taken place in the North East by @NE_YouthVoice, so far one of the main discussions has been about taking ACTION with climate change, as this was the UKs most highest outcome from make your mark 2019 #youthvoice#byclive
Thank you @PUTDOWNTHEKNIFE for such an inspiration and motivational day yesterday to #putdowntheknife which really has inspired me to do more work in Redcar and Cleveland to raise awareness and help children come off the streets.
Yesterday my eyes were opened up to more about the reality of knife crime and I honestly believe everyone needs to understand these situations more, and listen to https://t.co/nDAhD2dB1u Because this poem really asks the questions people don’t always ask.
