@NancyGoyal30 Simple. I charge for my work/time. No need to be savage or rude. Just factual. They don’t want to pay that is fine. Their choice to find someone who works for free
Don’t ever be told to tone down your ambitions.
The right approach would be to ask someone how they think they can achieve their Moonshot.
Think big. It’s fun.
You just have to be willing to look like an idiot while you figure it out.
Because once you figure it out, everyone else looks like an idiot for doubting you.
Career Goal 1: Become a Chief Revenue Officer ✅
Career Goal 2: Help build a startup valued at $1B ✅✅
Career Goal 3: Build my 1-person company to $5M ✅
It's time for a new goal, but not sure what it is...
Anyone else gone through this same feeling?
@thejustinwelsh It’s a good thing to have a 5 year Moonshot. I take a 3-5 day break each year and head out on my own. Is my goal to be renewed? Different goal? Bigger? What will make me happy?
Value of a non-exec director. The willingness of a NED to take on legal liability by joining the Board is a huge vote of confidence. It shows that an experienced professional, who is not personally connected to the founders, believes in the company’s potential and governance.
Founders are starting to build their Board prior to raising funding. To get someone to fight their corner in the fundraising. It also speeds up the fundraising as it increases confidence at the VC or angel investors. We start that process with founders. At low cost
My first client paid me £12,800.
Second client £22,000
Yup. Still didn’t make money because of high costs 😅
Make money is one thing. Control your costs is the other one to get right
When meeting potential clients, ditch the PPT. Instead, introduce yourself and ask for their thoughts. This turns the meeting into a conversation, helps you understand their needs and challenges. It's more effective than talking at people #BusinessMeetings#ClientEngagement
Conferences are not just about attending sessions—they're prime opportunities for networking. Make the most by talking to attendees, following up, and stay at the conference hotel to maximize interactions. Remember, the real work happens during social times
Don't spend $5k on Market research. Publicly listed companies' investor relations offer a wealth of free info. These contain presentations and transcripts from industry leaders, revealing market sizes, trends, and strategies. #MarketResearch#businessplanning
You don’t have to know it all. Plan your success in three steps. It got NASA to the Moon!
Keep it simple, learn what you need and keep going.
Three steps
Most people who tell you money is not important have a lot of it. It matters. Money buys freedoms from a lot of worries and stresses.
Good thing is there is always more of it to go round.
If you are presenting a slide deck at your Board meeting? That’s not a Board meeting.
Brief your NEDs ahead. Use the time for questioning and discussion.
If you don’t feel happy, excited and energised after a Board meeting you are leaving value on the table
