Update on Dr. Mahrang Baloch

My mother and I visited the jail to see my sister, Dr. Mahrang Baloch today. We were forced to wait for eight hours and were then only allowed to speak with her over the telephone, separated by a thick glass wall.

The jail staff is undergoing a complete overhaul, with new personnel being brought in. The jail superintendent has already been transferred, and other officials are reportedly next in line. According to the jail staff, the prison is under strict control of intelligence agencies, with surveillance cameras installed throughout. A separate room is being prepared for meetings, equipped with cameras, microphones, and other monitoring devices.

Despite the High Court’s directive allowing us to meet Mahrang, we are still being denied in-person visits. Her rights as a prisoner are being blatantly violated.

Mahrang has fallen severely ill due to food poisoning and has been sick for the past three days. Her condition worsened last night. We have repeatedly requested that jail authorities allow a doctor to examine her, but no medical specialist has been permitted to visit. Yesterday, a junior doctor conducted a brief check-up, which was entirely inadequate. Beebow informed me that Mahrang was unwell throughout the night.

We demand that an independent medical board of experienced doctors be allowed to examine her immediately. She appears extremely weak and fragile, and we strongly believe something is seriously wrong with her health.

I appeal civil society, the media, and the legal community to take immediate action, ensuring that court orders are enforced and that my sister receives the urgent medical care and justice she deserves.

اسی کے ساتھ، ہم بلوچ عوام سے اپیل کرتے ہیں کہ وہ ڈاکٹر ماہ رنگ بلوچ کے لیے بھرپور سیاسی مزاحمت جاری رکھیں، کیونکہ وہ آج اپنے سیاسی نظریات اور بلوچ مفادات کے تحفظ کی جدوجہد کی پاداش میں جیل میں ہیں۔

Urgent Appeal: Immediate Attention Needed

I visited my sister, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, today at Hudda Jail, Quetta, as the Balochistan High Court had directed the jail authorities to allow us regular meetings. However, the jail authorities stopped me for three hours, blatantly violating the High Court's order dated 25.03.2025 passed in CP NO. 358/2025.

Mahrang’s life and health are in serious danger as she is being held among dangerous, hardcore criminals. When she resisted this, she was threatened of solitary confinement.

Surveillance cameras have been installed directly in front of her prison cell and washroom, and she is subjected to constant 24-hour monitoring. She has no privacy, even in personal matters, and has reported that her clothing choices are also being observed.

The food provided is extremely unhygienic, and we fear it is contaminated. As a result, both Mahrang and Beebow have fallen ill. Despite this, they are not being treated. They are also not being treated as political prisoners and are being denied basic rights.

In this tough time, I urgently appeal to the legal fraternity of Quetta and human rights organizations to take immediate action to ensure Dr. Mahrang’s and Beebow’s safety and a fair trial.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Others Arrested: Dead Bodies Seized, Women and Children Attacked in Brutal Pre-Dawn Crackdown by State Security Forces

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) had announced a sit-in yesterday in Quetta, demanding the release of its central committee member Bebarg, his brother Hammal, Dr. Ilyas, and others who have been forcibly disappeared, as well as the release of Baloch woman Saeeda and several others.

From the very beginning, the state responded with violent repression. Police arrested protesters, security forces escalated their assault with baton charges, tear gas shelling, and mass arrests. Networks were shut down, and a search operation in Saryab was launched to hunt down more protesters, whereas firing took three leaves and several others injured.

Then, today, at 5:30 AM, security forces carried out a brutal pre-dawn raid on the sit-in. Baloch women, children, and peaceful protesters were subjected to extreme violence. The authorities forcefully seized the dead bodies that protesters had planned to offer funeral prayers for today. BYC Organizer Dr. Mahrang Baloch, along with many others, was dragged and arrested.

گزشتہ روز بی وائی سی کے مرکزی رہنما بیبگر بلوچ، ڈاکٹر حمل ڈاکٹر الیاس اور سعید بلوچ سمیت دیگر خواتین کی اغوا نما گرفتاری کے خلاف کوئٹہ سریاب میں ایک پرامن مظاہر�� کیا گیا تھا۔ اس مظاہرے پر پولیس اور ریاستی اداروں نے آنسو گیس، واٹر کینن اور گولیوں کا استعمال کیا، جس کے نتیجے میں تین بلوچ نوجوان شہید اور درجنوں زخمی ہوئے۔

ریاست کی دہشت گردی کے خلاف بی وائی سی نے شہید نوجوانوں کی لاشیں لے کر کل رات سے کوئٹہ کے سریاب علاقے میں دھرنا شروع کیا تھا۔ آج صبح 5:30 بجے پولیس اور دیگر اداروں نے دھرنے پر حملہ کیا، مظاہرین سے لاشیں چھین لیں اور بی وائی سی کے مرکزی رہنما ڈاکٹر ماہرنگ بلوچ کو ان کے ساتھیوں سمیت گرفتار کر لیا۔
