يجهل البعض أن تخصص “الترجمة” علمٌ بحدِّ ذاته، وأن مجرد التحدث بعدة لغات لا يؤهلك لتصبح مترجمًا.

إغلاق كلية اللغات والترجمة أمر مؤسف لأنه يُضعف من إعداد الكفاءات المتخصصة في هذا المجال الحيوي، كما يؤثر سلبًا في جودة الترجمة في مجالات حساسة مثل الأبحاث العلمية وغيرها.

جامعة الملك سعود تقرر ما يلي:
- إلغاء السنة التحضيرية في كل تخصصات الجامعة
- إلغاء كل برامج كلية علوم الأغذية والزراعة.
- إلغاء كل برامج كلية اللغات وعلومها.
- إلغاء برامج اللغة العربية والتاريخ والجغرافيا وعلم الاجتماع في كلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية.

Fun fact from a translator who dappled/dapples in linguistics:

0123456789 are the Arabic numerals.
٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧٨٩ are the Eastern Arabic numerals.
Persian and Urdu use the Eastern Arabic numerals with a slight change in 3, for Persian, and 4, for Urdu, numbers.
