This week I (as part of @HistoricEngland) and many international heritage colleges have been brainstorming problems, goals and actions for future research on earthen architecture. This has to be one of the most inspiring weeks of my career so far. Many thanks to @GCIConservation

This week, we are bringing together an international cohort of 30 experts to discuss the future of earthen heritage conservation.

Organized by the Earthen Architecture Initiative under the aegis of the @ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Earth Architectural Heritage, this meeting aims to define common strategic directions in the earthen heritage conservation field, develop thoughtful responses to its current challenges, and foster mutual learning between conservation professionals.

We started the 4-day meeting by sharing our 30+ years of international projects in earthen heritage conservation and our research on heritage conservation trends. We analyzed the 13 terra proceedings, the condition of World Heritage Sites made of earth, and the results of a survey on earthen heritage conservation.

Afterward, participants engaged in interactive workshop activities to identify needs and goals for the field. During the gallery session, the experts showcased their own earthen architecture projects and discussed their challenges and successes.
