This is a useless report that govt will use as political cover. people refused to be interviewed and answer specific questions. The reason he was unable to find wrongdoing is because he did not have the power to dig enough.

Don’t let politicians pull the wool over your eyes. Better health care is going to require meaningful, and sustained investment. You will end up paying, one way or another. Whether it’s in the form of higher taxes, or out of pocket for private health care.

Publicly financed healthcare makes more structural sense than a pay out of pocket system IMO. The reality however is that our public system is failing at access right now.

Reconciling these two truths must be the conversation around public and private care in 🇨🇦.

Shutting down one side of the conversation won’t rebuild trust in our publicly funded health system and the journey to acceptable access. It also won’t lead to a better conversation.

Let’s folks state their positions. Let’s interrogate the evidence and our lived reality. Then let’s choose a path together, with metrics that help us chart whether we sufficiently fund and have impact moving forward.

Canadians will continue to talk about private care whether those of us who influence policy do or not. I’d rather have those Canadians as part of the conversation than not.

There is a risk that folks with strong incentives towards pay out of pocket private care take up more space than they should in the conversation, but that can be managed IMO.
