Did you know?
That Heineken will no longer be a UCL sponsor from August 2027. It ends a more than 30-year relationship between both parties.
UCL official sponsor from 2027/28 will be AB InBev, perhaps Heineken’s greatest competition and the world’s largest brewer.
The deal will make AB InBev UEFA’s official beer partners for all their tournaments except the UEFA Youth League.
They'll pay UEFA €200m per year, and have signed a 6-year deal. That amount is almost double of what Heineken paid UEFA per year.
Will UEFA’s matchballs stop having the stars?
Possibly.
Does that have a relationship with Heineken?
No.
UEFA is also set to ditch Adidas as its matchball providers for the Champions League and other tournaments. Adidas has been producing matchballs for UEFA since 2001, and have the popular Finale starball.
That may be changing as Nike will most likely take over from 2027.
Why is UEFA making these changes now?
Late last year, UC3 — the joint venture between UEFA and European Football Clubs (EFC) representing more than 800 top European clubs agreed to chart a new course for UEFA’s commercial rights. UC3 officially started in January 2025. It's headed by Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA’s Director of Marketing and the EFC’s CEO, Charlie Marshall. They serve as joint managing directors.
Current commercial partners, Team Marketing has been in charge of UEFA’s commercial rights since 1991 and were the ones that brokered the deals with Adidas and Heineken.
UC3 has now totally changed partners from Team Marketing to Relevent Sports Group for the sale of UEFA’s competitions. Relevent became a second partner in 2024 but will now oversee it alone from 2027.
Some new sponsors are coming in with AB In Bev and Nike being major. From 2027 also, TNT will stop being their official media partners. That slot will go to Paramount+.
UEFA’s aim is to make €1bn per annum from club competitions.
Like the Premier League is greatly focused on the American market now, UEFA is also greatly targeting the US and their new commercial partners are an American company.
The money is in the States.

Good afternoon @zubamutesi …How many likes and retweets would it take for me to earn a visit to your studio while you’re on air?😌I’m genuinely interested in seeing how things work behind the scenes in a radio studio!
Dear @imbankrw, first of all, I'd like to congratulate you on the new Personal Banking App. It brought a sight of relief to us clients to see that Innovation still remains at the top of your priorities list.
Lastly, there are a lot of bugs, especially in Account Management, where, for example, I have 2 accounts, but the app tells me there are no accounts associated. Now, I can't take a screenshot (as the app doesn't allow it), but kindly look into these minor inconveniences as well.
@imbankrw Very happy with the new upgrade.
I'd like to point out one improvement
1. whenever I log in, I get an SMS and email, and this has filled my inbox with unnecessary messages. Can you adjust this, or atleast give the end users the ability to choose what messages we receive.
