Manageable working conditions for rural healthcare practitioners.
Northern Ontario needs a plan.
We need a Northern Physician Workforce Strategy. (Shocking that there isn’t one already, I know.)
We need a Northern Ontario Rural Coordination Centre, like @RCC_bc
Hey @fordnation@SylviaJonesMPP
In the past 2wks (336h) I spent 300 hours on ER call then drove 6h home. Tomorrow I will drive 13h then be on ER call for 24h again.
How much harder do you suggest I work?
Healthcare system is surviving by personal sacrifice.
Action is needed!
A one-size-fits-all solution to health care doesn't work in the North. Hospitals in small and rural communities face unique challenges.
It's time for the Ford government to get off the sidelines and implement a Northern Ontario Healthcare Strategy. 1/2 #onpoli#healthcare
It was a pleasure to chat w/ MPP @M_Mantha today for #OFAatQP. There was a geographical focus on northern ON which included road safety education & awareness campaigns, navigating the roads during peak tourist season, red tape reduction & opportunities for agricultural growth.
Roads Roads Roads … interesting discussions with Ontario Road Builders Association on how we can prepare to build roads today, meet needs for tomorrow and for years to come 🚧 @GoodRoads#roadsafetyaudits
Exciting news! Algoma-Manitoulin MPP, @M_Mantha introduced the Waterpower Day Act, 2024. The bill, if passed, will proclaim June 20 “Waterpower Day".
Why June 20? It's Sir Adam Beck's birthday!

Exactly this.
No health strategy for N Ontario.
Losing rural family doctors faster than anywhere.
Hospitals facing deficit from nursing shortage.
Bill 13 to update Northern Travel Grant defeated by Conservatives.

Doing a rural ER locum where half the town has no family doctor: 14 patients registered in first 3h
We cannot provide adequate primary care in the ER, yet without a family doctor everyone lands here
Legal groups voice concerns over Ford repeatedly saying he wants 'like-minded' judges. Advocates' group, Criminal Lawyers' Association, CCLA, and FOLA all fired back at the premier.

Patients in Northern Ontario already face many barriers to accessing healthcare. Being forced to pay up front hundreds of dollars in travel costs and never being fully reimbursed to receive medically necessary care should not be an added one.
Too often I hear from Northerners who cannot afford to make it to their medical appointments.
We need to fix the Northern Health Travel Grant to ensure everyone can get the treatment they need wherever they are in Ontario.

Today's AG report shows the extent that Northern healthcare has been neglected by this government.
We need a healthcare strategy that will keep Northern hospitals open and address the growing wait times for services. #onpoli
