Wassily #Kandinsky passed away #OTD (Dec. 13) in 1944. Though associated with his native country Russia, Kandinsky moved to France in late 1933 and eventually became a French citizen in 1939.

The Feast Day of the first bishop of Toulouse, St. Saturnin/Sernin, is celebrated #OTD (Nov. 29). He met a brutal end after being tied to a bull and dragged through the streets right up to the location where the church that houses Bรฉzard's painting now stands.

French photographer and painter, Dora #Maar, was born #OTD (Nov. 22) in 1907. Aside from her association with Picasso -- his muse and romantic partner -- she is known for her innovative work in Surrealism. #FrancophoneFriday
Blek le Rat, the "Father of stencil graffiti," was born #OTD (Nov. 15) in 1951. He was one of the first ๐ซ๐ท graffiti artists in Paris and one whom Banksy admired. Xavier Prou (real name) started by painting stencils of rats on the walls of Parisian streets.

๐ซ๐ท painter Claude #Monet was born #OTD (Nov. 14) in 1840. One of the leading figures of #Impressionism, his advocacy for a new approach to painting (which drastically contrasted with the ideals promoted by the French Royal Academy) paved the way for the development of modern art.
๐ฉ๐ฐ/๐ซ๐ท painter Camille #Pissarro passed away #OTD (Nov. 13) in 1903. The oldest of the Impressionists and the only one to exhibit in all eight Impressionist exhibitions, he later pivoted towards Neo-Impressionism (pointillism) and had an influence on artists like Seurat & Cรฉzanne.
The 1st TX #MICHELIN Guide selection was unveiled this evening, and TX restaurants were awarded: 15 One Stars, 2 Green Stars, and 45 Bib Gourmands.
