This is probably the biggest thing to come from this press conference and it was a throw away line.
Fascinated to see what the European federations have to say about this. Can't imagine they're happy (even if it's true).
Bill Daly says he spoke with the IIHF this morning and relays that they don't anticipate a boycott from the Finns, Swedes or Czechs if/when Russia is allowed back into international hockey tournaments.
The Washington Capitals and Norris voters screwing their D-Men is a tale as old as time, sadly*
*A tale that begins in 1985, don't ask why I don't make the rules
Not a single vote for Chychrun who had one of the best goal scoring season's by a D-Man in the modern post-lockout era + was well above water in on-ice goal differential is a huge oversight by voters.
His season deserved some sort of Norris recognition, even if a few votes.
It's official. The Montreal Canadiens are out of the playoffs and my favorite stat holds for another year. A U.S. team has won the Canadian Football League's Grey Cup (Baltimore Stallions, 1995) more recently than a Canadian team has won the NHL's Stanley Cup (Montreal, 1993).
@MattGajtka@travisyost So too are the low-danger chances as well. And Carolina partially banks on converting a few of those a game (that aren't as reliable).
But if you can navigate the onslaught and still get yours, you're fine against Carolina. Montreal did that twice. Didn't last night.
@JFreshHockey@JhanHky Playstyle, role, production are all different things... Hard to sum them up with just one player. But putting in the effort to give a few and explain is definitely worthwhile. Especially for communicating towards more casual fans and hell - even plugged in fans.
This goes for people who make these/scouts but also fans/readers.
I find there often isn't enough specification on the *type* of comparison being made. There isn't *one* right way to do it.
Slamming your fist on the table saying there is, which some do, doesn't help either.
One issue with draft comparables is that everyone thinks something a little different with what they are "supposed" to be. Some want a play-style, some want production, some want both, some want both but more of one not the other...
hot take I guess but draft comparables are great if they're done well. not everyone has the time to watch a bunch of games of every prospect and read thousands of words about them

The Trump administration wants you to believe their propaganda is fact, and control the majority of mainstream media and social platforms to reinforce their lies.
This is what authoritarianism looks like.
