🇮🇱🇺🇸 How Israel Gave US Intelligence to the Soviets in Exchange for Jewish Immigrants

Johnathan Pollard was a Texan born in 1954.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1979 and later became a Navy intelligence analyst.

Pollard was Jewish and, because of his heritage, felt a strong allegiance to Israel, which led him to spy on the U.S. on behalf of Israel.

He also felt that some of his fellow intelligence workers were openly “anti-Semitic,” so he wanted to do something about the situation personally.

Israel paid Pollard to pass classified U.S. intelligence information to them.

Israel then gave that information to the Soviets in exchange for Jewish immigrants.

A former CIA station chief in the Middle East said that Israel used the material Pollard had given them “to trade for people they wanted to get out” of the Soviet Union.

These people included Jewish nuclear scientists, missile scientists, as well as ordinary Soviet Jews.

Journalist Seymour M. Hersh spoke to a number of U.S. officials about Pollard, and he said in his book ‘The Traitor’ that the U.S. intelligence Pollard gave to Israel was repackaged and given to the Soviet Union "in exchange for continued Soviet permission for Jews to emigrate to Israel.”

He also added: "Other officials go further, and say that there was reason to believe that secret information was exchanged for Jews working in highly sensitive positions in the Soviet Union.”

Former CIA director William Casey said: “The Israelis used Pollard to obtain our attack plan against the USSR - all of it. The coordinates, the firing locations, the sequences. And for guess who? The Soviets.”

Pollard was described as a cocaine addict, and it was reported that he sold top-secret documents for $31,000 and promises of $340,000 more.

Israel also gave him a diamond engagement ring for his new fiancée.

Israel was interested in acquiring information about Arab and Pakistani nuclear technology, chemical and biological weapons programs, Soviet aircraft and air defense systems, as well as intelligence on the deployment and readiness of Arab nations.

Additionally, Pollard’s Israeli handlers requested "dirt" on any Israeli political figures who were providing information to the United States.

He gave it to them.

Pollard was sentenced to life imprisonment and served 30 years in prison before being released on parole on November 20, 2015.

At his sentencing hearing, then-Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberge said:

"It is difficult for me, even in the so-called 'year of the spy,' to conceive of a greater harm to national security than that caused by the defendant in view of the breadth, the critical importance to the U.S., and the high sensitivity of the information he sold to Israel.

That information was intentionally reserved by the United States for its own use, because to disclose it, to anyone or any nation, would cause the greatest harm to our national security."

In 2020, when his parole restrictions were lifted, Pollard moved to Israel.

He was welcomed in Israel like a hero.

He was flown there on a private jet provided by American billionaire Sheldon Adelson, a Jewish-Zionist, and major political donor.

Benjamin Netanyahu personally greeted Pollard at the airport and gave a speech thanking him for his espionage and sacrifices for Israel.

It’s also worth noting that Netanyahu had been trying for YEARS to get Pollard out of jail.

In 1998, Netanyahu, then serving as Prime Minister of Israel, wrote a letter to Bill Clinton, formally requesting clemency for Pollard.

He constantly brought up Pollard’s case in public forums, expressing his belief that Pollard had served enough time and calling for his release.

He raised the topic during diplomatic negotiations, including during peace talks and other high-level discussions between the U.S. and Israel.

In 2002, Netanyahu actually went and visited Pollard in prison to demonstrate his personal support and solidarity.

Also upon his arrival in Israel, multiple rabbis and Israeli politicians expressed their gratitude for him.

The Israeli government facilitated Pollard’s transition and integration into Israeli society, providing support for his new life in Israel.

Wow, a country that welcomes, supports, and calls a man who committed espionage against the United States a “hero.”
