EFULULU TOURISM: The Okongo village council has brought an exciting adventure to embrace the sandy soil through tourism lenses sponsored by Pupkewitz Motors, by introducing the maludi Festival 4x4 Experience, scheduled for 26 September 2026.

This is not a competition but a guided adventure aimed at improving driving skills while promoting tourism and supporting local businesses in Okongo. The initiative was officially launched on Thursday.

Okongo Village Council CEO Jackson Muma said participants will start the morning with a one-hour training session led by a 4x4 expert. Anyone interested can participate at a fee of N$300, with organisers targeting 80 to 100 participants.

Participants will then proceed to a designated area to test their 4x4 skills before embarking on a guided off-road trail. After the trail, they will return to Okongo to support local businesses before heading to Ombuutu Campsite for a picnic and networking session.

Muma said the initiative is intended to upskill drivers while allowing them to have fun, attract participants from across Namibia and welcome visitors travelling to the country during the period. Other sponsors are Tulaing Group Pty, Okongo Medical Centre and Ombutu Campsite.

Proceeds from the experience will go towards the Omaludi Festival planned for May 2027.
