Two astronauts land on Mars. Their mission: to check whether there is oxygen on the planet.

“Give me the box of matches,” says one. “Either it burns and there is oxygen, or nothing happens.”

One of the astronauts says, “This looks serious. What are they afraid of? Nonetheless we’re here for science, to learn if Man can breathe on Mars.”

So he strikes a match, which flames up, burns down and NOTHING HAPPENS!

So he turns to the Martians and asks, “Why did you want to prevent us from striking a match?”

The leader of the Martians answers, “It’s Shabbat!”

Y tras el silbatazo final que confirmó su eliminación de la Copa del Mundo, varios jugadores de la Selección de Curazao se fueron al centro de la cancha para agradecer todo lo vivido y simplemente se sentaron a platicar como si estuvieran el barrio.

Siendo de Curazao, se supone que nunca iban a llegar a una justa mundialista. Pero lo lograron. Y pudieron celebrar un gol ante Alemania, lograron conseguir un punto ante Ecuador y emocionaron a todo el planeta fútbol con su entrega, corazón y amor por la pelota.

Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn’t happy.

One could apply your trenchant analysis to other art forms: JS Bach wrote 30 Goldberg variations on the same chord structure; Frida Kahlo painted 50 portraits of herself; Henry Moore, what??

The point is, or was, variations on a theme; if all you see is hospital, medical blah blah, then it wasn’t meant for you.

Nonetheless, I look forward to your first novel!
