Spent this morning going through our superb SoW to see if there was any potential to include more study of black, non-European, women’s, disabled and LGBT history. Just some points for more research so far, but it was great to see we had lots accounted for in our current SoW!

Starting to feel nervous/excited about coming back to work, it feels like I’ve been gone both for ages yet hardly any time at all. Can I still teach? Will I be able to keep up with all the changes since I went off? I’ll find out in a months time I suppose!🫣

During mat leave so far it’s sometimes felt like my brain cells are frazzling, so I’ve decided get some reading in when I can. I know I’m late to the party but I already can’t wait to read more in the series and use these for #GuidedReading when I return, WW1 next! @dcsandbrook
(2/2) how truly ready to pack it all in I was. My first TT placement was really tough which left my mental health in bits. Fast-forward 5 years and I am at a wonderful school with the most supportive and encouraging department. I’m on mat leave but miss them and teaching lots.

Reading ‘English as an Additional Language’, from the @researchED1 series, on the train… and it is bloomin’ brilliant. Plainly essential reading.
Thank you @hwc001, @tombennett71 & to all the brilliant contributors, such as @vmurphyox @naomiflynn61
@MissAHewson I’ve never been to Gawthorpe Hall (was meant to do a trip there last year but it ended up being fully booked) so I’ll look into that. And as for Haworth…Jane Eyre is my fave book so I have been lots but Oga hasn’t so another great shout! Thank you! X
@jontysibbles I spent (this is no exaggeration) nearly every weekend of my childhood there as my grandparents lived in Chorley - but I’ve never been with Oga. Great shout! Thank you 😊
Emmett Till would've, should have, turned 81 this year.
To put that into perspective-
Joe Biden is 79.
Bernie Sanders is 81.
Morgan Freeman is 85.
This wasn't in some distant past, and the fight is nowhere near over.
When you need a permission slip to go to Hogsmede but walking around in close proximity to a violent tree called the “Whomping Willow” that is in no way shape or form cordoned off is a-okay 👌🏼
I think this every single time I watch this film. And do not even get my started on Harry Potter, how was safeguarding not a priority at a school where children used magic?!
