NEW EPISODE!
We took less than a year between #GravityFalls seasons, and I count that as a win. Our season 2 premiere is finally out!

It's actually impressive that someone could make such a great modern adaptation of Carrie, yet completely botch the ending.
It's Carrie. They handed the ending to you on a platter. Just do the ending.
Thank you so much for the response to this essay! I was nervous because I had some not-particularly-positive things to say, but y'all have been great.
And the outpouring of support, re: me being laid off and dealing with medical debt, has been very overwhelmingly kind. (1/2)
Since being laid off, I need all the help I could get while I get my feet back under me.

I wasn't happy when my third grade teacher read us Fig Pudding and I had to finally process the fact that kids could actually die. But real tragedies happen unexpectedly and without the luxury of foreshadowing. Us learning about it this way was the best case scenario.
Well, I finally read it. I'm sorry if you were misled by the movie's marketing only to have your heart broken, but this really is an excellent book and, I imagine, a perfect tool to explain grief to kids.
"Why did my English teacher have me read this fucked up book/short story?"
Because it's crucial to engage with things that make you uncomfortable and to learn the difference between a work upsetting you and a work being sad/dark for the sake of it.
I have no regrets about making my "The Book of Bill" video into an analog horror film set within a Zoom call English Class on The Great Gatsby, but I DO wish more ppl watched it simply because @_AlexHirsch lowkey confirms Fiddleford's affections for Ford in the interview for it.
Of course in a real world sense they just don't know how to use this character for a full movie without incorporating a version of him that's still deluded so they found another simple concept for him to misunderstand, then added more deluded Buzzes in 5 when that backfired
The dumbing down of Buzz in Toy Story 4 is annoying but they did spend the previous movie fucking with his brain and then dropping a CRT TV on him headfirst so maybe he was still recovering
