President Donald Trump said he is tapping Bill Pulte, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as the acting Director of National Intelligence. https://t.co/YdD91lCH0T
This is rich.
@nancylacore now says Pete Hegseth politicized the military. Yet, she personally signed the directive carrying out Trump's order to eliminate Navy Reserve policies on anti-harassment, equal opportunity, anti-retaliation, and diversity.
That doesn't mean Hegseth gets a pass.
But if politicizing the military is the concern (it is), scrutinize both the officials issuing directives and the leaders carrying them out. Lacore's criticism raises questions about Hegseth—but also about her own role in implementing the administration's agenda.
The question isn't just whether Hegseth crossed a line.
It's why those now sounding the alarm helped redraw it.
Pete Hegseth has crossed another line. He has injected politics into the military, and it will take time to recover. In Congress, I will do everything I can to protect the military from political interference and ensure it remains focused on its mission, not partisan politics.
I am honored to have the support of Rep. Courtney Waters.
Rep. Courtney Waters knows what it takes to stand up for the Lowcountry. From the Charleston County School Board to the Statehouse, she’s fought the right fights and stood firm against the Trump redistricting effort in Columbia.
When the fight matters, you want the right people in your corner. Vote June 9. #SC01
We’re proud to have Senator Ed Sutton @EdCSutton on our team.
Senator Sutton knows what it means to fight for the Lowcountry. When Trump gave the order to rig our maps, Senate Democrats stood firm, and Senator Sutton was right there leading the fight.
That's the kind of backbone we need more of. I'm honored to have his support.
Very proud of South Carolina. Democrats held the line. 12 Republicans ended up joining them. Voters showed up in record numbers. The redistricting scheme is dead. Now we finish the job. Early voting is open through June 5. Primary is June 9. Help us finish strong.
Early voting is underway and turnout is strong in #SC01.
Columbia is trying to delay the congressional primary and silence your voice. Don’t let them.
Polls are open 8:30 AM to 5 PM through June 5. Primary election date is June 9. Visit https://t.co/G2Bw2Md71w to find your polling location.
Go vote. 🇺🇸🗳️
Very proud to have the endorsement of Mount Pleasant Town Councilman Daniel Brownstein.
In Congress, I will work in partnership with local governments across the Lowcountry to protect our wetlands and waterways, secure critical infrastructure funding, and improve quality of life for families and individuals across the 1st Congressional District.
Thank you, @danielbforSC, for your support.
Most Americans don't know that Memorial Day began right here in Charleston.
On May 1, 1865, thousands of newly freed Black Charlestonians gathered at what is now Hampton Park to honor Union soldiers who had died as prisoners of war at the old Washington Race Course. Schoolchildren led the procession carrying flowers. Over the entrance to the cemetery they had built, the words read: "Martyrs of the Racecourse."
It was the first Memorial Day in the United States of America. It happened here, in the Lowcountry, led by people who understood better than anyone what freedom costs.
Today we honor every man and woman who gave their life in service to this country. We remember them all.
South Carolina:
Early voting starts Tuesday, May 26.
You can stop redistricting by showing up on Tuesday to vote.

Aside from the absurdity of this mid-election redistricting scheme, it could cost taxpayers somewhere in the ballpark of $6 million to carry out.
I can think of schools, roads, and bridges in SC-01 that need that money more than politicians need a rigged map.
NEW: A South Carolina Senate committee voted 15-7 last night to advance a GOP gerrymander aimed at dismantling the state's lone majority-Black district.
The map now heads to the Senate floor for a full vote this week.

We’re grateful to have the endorsement of Charleston City Councilman Karl Brady. We’re proud of the momentum we’ve built, and we know this campaign is stronger when the Lowcountry’s own stand with us.
🚨 South Carolina senators *REJECT* sine die agreement that included congressional redistricting language, voting it down 29-17. 🚨 #scpol#scnews#chsnews#redistricting
