SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.

The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.

Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.

Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

The enormity of this man’s crime does not relieve the government of its obligation to conduct itself with dignity. If the law requires his death, let the sentence be executed with solemnity. But to summon the public to watch a man die is to make an exhibition of the Republic’s power. America’s greatness rests not merely upon the strength she possesses, but upon the restraint in which she exercises it. Hegseth evidently believes that inviting the world to watch a paraplegic prisoner die will demonstrate American strength. Yet, this spectacle will reveal nothing of American strength and everything of his own vanity.

Twenty-five years later, I remember that day as clearly as if it were yesterday.

When I walked into my seventh-grade math class, I saw the haunting images of the World Trade Center. As we learned that commercial airplanes had struck the towers, I thought about my father, who was piloting a commercial flight at the time.

That evening, my mother came home from work in tears. She had recently retired from United Airlines, and United Airlines Flight 93 had been one of the routes she regularly flew.

September 11 solidified my resolve to help others and ultimately led me to join the Coast Guard after high school.

Over the years, I have met many people whose lives were forever changed that day; some who narrowly escaped, others who lost loved ones, and brave souls who ran toward the smoke while everyone else was running out.

September 11 changed our country and the world in profound ways. The perpetrators represented pure evil, but their attack also brought out the very best in the American people. Strangers risked their lives for one another, and many in my generation came to understand the meaning and importance of public service at an early age.

Never forget. Always remembering.
