🇨🇺 Responding to the Trump administration's latest threats, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has told Sky News that they will not relinquish their sovereignty to the US and that Cuba is "not afraid of war."

“What have we let this country become? I’ve just returned from dropping a friend off at a doctors surgery miles away from where he lives. I literally pulled into the car park dropped him off and drove off, five minutes later my friend rang me to tell me that I had to text him my registration number or I would receive a £50 penalty fine. Apparently the surgery has some form of CCTV and if you haven’t registered your number plate in the surgery itself it automatically issues a fixed penalty. Had one of the staff not seen me dropping my friend off I would have been on the receiving end of a £50 fine.
Last week whilst touring the New Forest I pulled into a car park where the only method of payment was by downloading an App. What are you supposed to do if you haven’t got a smart phone?
I read a post last week where a elderly man boarded a train without a ticket hoping to pay once on board only to be told that since he had boarded the train without a ticket he must pay a £100 fine reduced to £50 if he payed there and then!
These practices are becoming the norm everywhere, symptomatic of rip off Britain where organisations can make easy money, especially around airports and in town centres where people are totally unaware of the transgressions they’ve accidentally made or in other cases where it’s not the persons fault. In my own village we have a train station but the ticket machine is often broken and a purchase is impossible. When the machine is operational many older people still don’t know how to use it, they then board the train and are often confronted by a little Hitler only too ready to impose a penalty! Every local council, Regional Mayors, should put an end to these nasty practices along with trade unions whose members have been dragged into ripping off members of the public, and very often elderly unaware members of the public!”
🚨Lord Dannatt was on the telly all day yesterday spouting 'spend more on war' rubbish. What wasn’t said, he's on the payroll of a US arms firm and has been caught out abusing his position in the Lords to lobby for a company he was working with.
“Capitalism is a system which by definition exploits and oppresses. It is the historical task of our movement as a whole to expose and attack its evils. It is, in fact, the Tory Government and capitalist system which is now attacking our health service, education system, social services and trade union rights. It is this system which is attacking the very basis of democracy, civil liberties and human rights, and the trade union and Labour movement need a positive response to attacks which take away the very basis of our existence.
For that, we need a Labour Party leadership prepared to campaign for and implement Socialist policies designed not just to win a General Election but to transform society. We need a Labour Government as committed to its class as the Tories have been to theirs.”
Arthur Scargill July, 1989.
Thank you to every campaigner & activist who joined us last week in the heat to demand workplace sexual harassment is recognised as a reportable injury - the only way we'll prevent the #1 cause of workplace harm in the UK #EndNotDefend#WorkerRights
🚨Andy Burnham must cut Defence Spending
By Arthur Scargill
🔴I hope Andy Burnham will cut the Government Spending on arms in both the United Kingdom and sales to other countries, in particular the total waste of money pledged to the fascist government in Ukraine. A regime which seized power in a coup d’etat in 2014, which forced a president to flee for his life and whose army has units bearing the name of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) that fought alongside the Nazis in WWII.
🔴I note also Poland has stripped Volodymyr Zelensky of their Order of the White Eagle because of his decision to name an Ukraine Army unit after the aforementioned Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).

“Pension fund moneys are deferred wages. In our case we can show where we have received less by way of a wage increase in exchange for improvements to our pension and that the package has represented clearly deferred wages. That is why we have such a powerful case to present later this year when we go to the Court. You will know that British Coal has taken from our industry pension fund in the form of a contribution holiday" £800 million in the past four years. Now, I'm not a lawyer, but I cannot see any difference between a crook like Maxwell stealing £450 million from Mirror Group pension funds and an employer like British Coal taking in the form of a contribution holiday £800 million from British Coal pension fund, the Mineworkers' Pension Fund. I have got a simple philosophy. Every single penny in the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme should be used for one purpose and one purpose only, to provide improved pensions for those who have retired and for those dependants of our retired members.”

🚨Starmer will unveil the Defence Investment Plan this morning, with an EXTRA £15 Billion paid for by cuts to public services. He will argue spending public money on war will increase jobs - not true. Missiles, bombs, and fighter jets are not additions to the means of production—they are designed to destroy it, along with human lives. Military hardware is the opposite of investment; it is the means of destruction. Further reading via Socialist Economic Bulletin.

Joanne needs to focus on raising the wages of her underpaid shop worker members. Agreeing to an increase to the minimum wage (same % increase given by the government) is NOT representing members.
“Only direct action which carries economic impact can halt the policies and terrible slide to complete disaster which faces Britain today. That is a key lesson learned over the course of the past few years.
Capitalism is in deep crisis, and our enemies know - even if some in our Movement do not - that only effective trade unionism can defend the interests of the working class and its allies, whose lives are in every sense damaged by this worsening crisis.
Along with mass unemployment, we see growing conflict and despair throughout Britain. On a global scale, political leaders such as Reagan and Thatcher seem prepared to sacrifice humanity itself in defence of capitalist and imperialist philosophy.”
This is the reality we face; to accommodate or attempt to placate it is to surrender. The only effective action is to mobilise and fight against it. Only a regeneration of basic trade union principles - embodied so magnificently in the miners' strike - can @combat and defeat the attacks mounted by the Tory Government against the people of Britain.”

“The Labour Party has over the past ten months moved so far to the Right that it is now almost indistinguishable from the Social Democrats.
Within hours of the 1994 Labour Party Annual Conference reaffirming its commitment to common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, Tony Blair began a campaign to change the entire Constitution of the Party in complete defiance of both the Constitution itself and Conference policy.
The "Modernises" and "Spin-doctors" tried to suggest that Clause IV, Part IV of the Constitution was drafted by two middle-class Fabians in 1918. This is untrue, and any historian worth his or her salt understands that Clause IV, Part IV emanated from the same Trade Union Movement which gave birth to the Labour Party itself.
The Miners' Federation of Great Britain (MFGB) Conference in 1904 actually called for the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange and that principle now forms part of the Constitution of our union.”

It's the mainstream media's job, people like Polly Toynbee, to keep us, the electorate, hooked on their constant cycle of expectation. Expectation that the people they endorse are genuinely represent change, but whose job it really is, is to manage the decline of capitalism, implementimg austerity and ensuring that those they really represent, the rich elites, continue to enrich themselves by bleeding the country dry.
Question is, how long are people going to fall for this? Allistair Lomax General Secretary, SLP.
“Last year it was a prophecy, it was a projection; this year tragically it is a fact. You do not have to listen to me. On television recently it was explained by Ken Livingstone that they did not want to change society but merely ensure that it ran more efficiently under New Labour than it did under the Conservatives. There are those who even now believe in their hearts that after a short period of time the new Labour Government will suddenly change its position, cast off the cloak and begin to operate policies that epitomise what we as a Trade Union Movement want to see. They suggest, for example, there is a third way. There is no third way, but there are only two ways. You can either collaborate, cooperate or be subservient, and that means operating within the confines of the system and with those words I think I am echoing the sentiments of the General Secretary of the Northumberland Miners who spoke so brilliantly just over two weeks ago; or alternatively you resist and you fight back, you do not allow any government, whatever its complexion, to dictate policies that you know in your heart and in your mind are wrong.”
