We discovered new nuclear bodies!✨🔬Our latest article in @J_Cell_Sci demonstrates how DEK's focal assemblies regularly occur at heterochromatin replication sites exclusively in the late S-phase! Great collaboration with @ferrandoelisa, @AD1959 & Ferdinand Kappes!

What an impressive work done by @GTortarolo and @ZuninoAle at @VicidominiLab@IITalk ! ✨
Grateful and proud of playing a small role in this awesome paper about the fluorescence lifetime Image Scanning Microscopy with a SPAD array detector! 🔬
✅ Fluorescence lifetime imaging
✅ Multicolour
✅ Super-resolution
... and everything all at once✨
(Almost) everything is possible with the SPAD Array Detector!
New paper from @ZuninoAle and me, with my friends at @VicidominiLab and @genoainstrument!

@MachPierzynska@IITalk, Christina Czada, Ferdinand Kappes, @ferrandoelisa, et al. discover that DEK oncoprotein forms SUMO-dependent nuclear bodies at active sites of constitutive heterochromatin replication.

This work combines and refines our previous data on DEK as a factor essential for heterochromatin integrity and facilitating replication under stress and delineates an avenue of further study for unraveling the contribution of DEK to cancer development. Have a good reading! (4/4)

Based on our co-immunoprecipitation study, we established that DEK is a SUMO target and that SUMOylation is required to form DEK bodies. We propose that SUMO is a novel player in the network of DEK modifiers involved in regulating its function during DNA replication. (3/4)
