I once had a good friend at university, she's a great person and happened to be a cleaner there. I remember someone asking me "why do you talk to her?" in a derogatory manner, almost as if she didn't exist. I replied with a deep sense of sadness "she's my friend".
If you haven't been following @Academics4BSW that's cool. It's all there for you. Take a look. I promise, you need it. This is a movement for today's time. Received through a screen, but reaching DEEP within you. Thank you to the whole team for the collective labors of this week!

A call to us non-Black folks by Dr. Mosley, who have been complicit and how our commitment can’t be just this, it doesn’t end today. “Y’all signed up until Black Liberation is realized”

Racism takes an emotional and physical toll. It is traumatic. If you ask someone how they are doing, and if they choose to respond -whether in trust or frustration, please be prepared to sit with the truth, with neither denial nor interjection, and without a need to be comforted.
"I JUST WANT TO LIVE": A few days after George Floyd died after a police officer knelt down on his neck for several minutes, 12-year-old Keedron Bryant went viral for his song about police brutality https://t.co/fgxxnL4MES
It takes courage to share our stories with the world. But in doing so, we open ourselves up to so much grace, healing, and connection. If you’re looking for where to start, share your story with me using #IAmBecoming––I can’t wait to hear from you.
I read this today, "Many things are cancelled, but our dreams aren't." I have had many moments lately that make me wonder if I'll ever finish this Ph.d. But then I think about my family and my community and how this is for them too. I begin to feel some hope, and I hold on.

Thank you to the mental health+addiction professionals who are holding space + walking us through the fear and anxiety. And, thank you to the folks working in domestic violence – we see you. Not everyone who has to stay at home is safe at home. This is a crisis inside a crisis.
My favorite H.S teacher, Ms. Cook, told me I was the brightest student she'd ever had in class & it changed my life forever. She walked me through the process of applying to schools. I got into all of them including UF. In 2008, my dream came true. #WeBelongInCollege#firstgen
