President Biden's announcement today about student loan debt relief has upset some people who believe it's unfair. I acknowledge that resentment, and also, while we're on the subject of unfairness, I have some thoughts for your consideration. (thread)
Climate change does not cause more hurricanes
But it does cause hurricanes to be bigger, stronger
These mega storms dump more water in New Orleans
But also New Jersey, New York, elsewhere
I know dealing with climate change is costly
Not dealing with climate change is more so
Abortion access is healthcare. Anyone who believes otherwise is choosing to be willfully ignorant about the realities of pregnancy, birth, & raising children. Or hateful. Or both! I don’t love speaking in absolutes but lives are on the line in Texas and anywhere else that follows
Covid killing over 600,000 people in the US didn’t happen because of people who refuse to get the shot.
It happened because our government decided that paying people to stay home was a cost they valued more than people’s lives.
I don’t give a fuck about Sean Hannity, I don’t give a fuck about billionaires in space, and I don’t give a fuck about unvaccinated assholes who could get vaccinated but refuse to.
Happy Tuesday.
I quit my teaching job and now make more bartending for 15 less hours week. Also I get blamed for way way less and get told thank you way way more. No lesson plans or grading papers.
Remember this when people ask about the teacher shortage.
don’t worry there won’t be another lockdown we’ll just normalize dying from covid like we’ve normalized dying from poverty, gun violence, police shootings, lack of housing, suicide, opioids, lack of access to medical care etc etc
My whole TL is New York flooding. A few days ago it was the ocean on fire. Before that it was a record heat wave. The question isn't if the climate emergency is here, it's what're we gonna do about it?
