@tonykemp grew up down the road and played his college ball on this field. Now he is back on it, helping the next group of Nashville kids get their reps in.
He talked to us about the camp, the work the @PlayersAlliance is doing to grow the game, and what a big league team would mean for this city.
Full interview below.

MLB TO MUSIC CITY ⭐️
The Nashville Stars Baseball Camp with @tonykemp is in the books, and it was more than we could have https://t.co/5SK9A1YYGh everywhere, energy all day, and a group of people willing to give their time to make it happen. Every bit of it showed up on the field.
Huge thank you to @PlayersAlliance for showing up in a big way: coaches on the field, a gaming station for the kids, camp shirts on every back, and the kind of support that makes a day like this possible.
And to @ariagloves for gifting brand new batting gloves to every single kid out there. That’s a memory those kids are taking home with them.
To our volunteers: none of this happens without you. You built this day from the ground up, setting up the field, checking kids in, coaching them through every station, keeping the whole thing running, feeding everybody lunch, and staying late to break it all down. All of it because you believe in what this game can do for a kid.
And thank you to everyone who donated equipment. That gear is headed exactly where it needs to go.
That’s the whole point. Baseball belongs to everybody, and days like this are how we prove it.
This won’t be the last one. We’re already planning the next camp: bigger turnout, more kids, more players on the field.
This is the future we’re building toward: kids in this city growing up with a team of their own.

“The Nashville Stars aren’t a new team. They’re a continuation.”
@nlbmprez sets the stage for Stars Across America, our journey back to the cities and communities that carried the Stars name. The Negro Leagues were filled with some of the biggest and brightest stars to ever play this game, and more than a few of them wore that name across their chest.
