In 1938, I restarted trade agreements with the US, and Great Britain, to slowly stop, "The Great Depression", and to build Canada's economy back up to the top.
In 1935, Canada's Government passed my new trade deal with the US called the, "Reciprocal Trade Agreement". It was a big change in the Canadian-US economic relationship. US reduced their tariffs for Canada: to create more trading, employment, and money for Canada.
To add to this tweet, 'the unemployment insurance' is extra spending money for people, who need to support their families or themselves. How it works, is that people who currently have jobs, they will pay a fee towards this plan. This is to prevent another depression for Canada.
A year after, "The Great Depression" ended, I created an unemployment insurance, after learning about the causes and consequences unemployment can have on a country. This will help unemployed people to have some spending money for awhile. More about it on my comment...
Adding to this, Bennett's poor ways to respond to the "TGD", made Canada lose their trust in him, as he could not reduce unemployment. Which was what he promised. Also, in 1935 'The Roar of the King", came, as I won the election: gaining 83 seats, and Bennett: losing 95 seats.
R.B. Bennett's response to "TGD", didn't work! He set up trade deals with Commonwealth countries, using Government money to buy wheat, setting up unemployment camps that paid 20 cents a day. These policies create riots like the Ottawa Trek, and the Regina Riot. More to this...
Before my 1935 election, I said this quote as part of the Liberal Party. This is to show how, "The Great Depression", all started in1929, credit buying, and national banks closing down; ruining the currency of Canada.
August 26th, 1936- "It is what we prevent, rather than what we do that counts most in the Government." Canadians are sick of promises to solve "The Great Depression"! Adding in more issues; R.B. Bennett tries his 'New Deal', instead of reducing our problems.
1935 Election- “If my party is returned to power, we shall make good our monetary policy in the greatest battle between the money power and the people Canada has ever seen.”
I want to end, "The Great Depression", from it's current state, and bring Canada back to its prime.
Cordell Hull, Me, and U.S President Franklin D Roosevelt, signing the US trade to Canada Agreement in 1935. This was our best act to stop, 'The Great Depression', where it stabilized and managed our currency exchange rates, and helped both the US and Canada's economies.
