Just after 12:30am, fire marshals shut the part down due to overcrowding. Biggie decided to head to yet another party in the Hollywood Hills. He and his team all loaded into a green Surburban.
That night, he decided to attend the Soul Train Awards After party. At the party, everyone was loving Biggie. With Suge Knight just receiving his nine year sentence, East coast and West coast finally seemed to have come together.
Their trip started off well. They recorded a music video and had several interviews. What was supposed to be his last night in L.A., turned into a trip longer than expected. When he was supposed to be going to London, Biggie decided to cancel his flight and instead stay.
During the next two months, Biggie spent much of his time at a rehab facility recovering. In these two months he had a revelation that he needed to slow down and make a change for the better in his life.
A mere three days after Tupac’s death, Biggie and Cease were involved in a motor vehicle accident. In this accident, Biggie fractured his leg in three places and had to be cut out of the van.
Shortly after, they received the news of Tupac’s death. Despite their prior beef, Faith Evans recalls this conversation with Biggie as hearing his tone be “low and small.” He was crying and seemed afraid.
It was at night on September 13, 1996 when Christopher Wallace was at the recording studio in New York. He received news of Tupac’s attack and he and his team were hoping he pulled through.
He also told Vibe that the next time he saw Tupac, he wanted an apology. Puffy said that Tupac “got a lot of people in a lot of bullshit with that interview.”
Biggie and Puffy decided that they needed to defend themselves. In the August 1995 issue of Vibe, Biggie said he wasn’t involved in the Quad shooting and that “Who Shot Ya?” wasn’t about Tupac.
It became increasingly hard to focus on music, though. The whispers about Biggie and Puffy’s involvement in Tupac’s shooting never went away. And “Who Shot Ya?” clouded the picture.
