So let me get this straight:

If I miss one mortgage payment, they can start foreclosure proceedings and it stays on my credit for years.

But the bank can pool my loan into a mortgage-backed security, sell it three times over, lose track of who actually owns the debt during the 2008 crash, and get bailed out with taxpayer money when it all falls apart.

I answer for one missed payment.

They don't answer for an entire system built on the same risk multiplied a thousand times.
