India - 2019 the Indian government approached Twitter to suspend accounts spreading rumours and anti-India content. In 2021, Twitter blocked hundreds of accounts that were posting about the Indian farmers protest; the government said the accounts were spreading misinformation.

Venezuela - 2019 twitter was temporarily blocked by the government after tweets made by opposition leader Juan Guaido.

China - Twitter officially banned, but many find "work arounds" to use the app. However the government is very agressive in tracking down people in China who post messages critical of the government or govermental officials and spread "misinformation."

Iran - Twitter was blocked in 2009 during the Iranian election due to fear of protests against the government organized over twitter.

North Korea - North Korea started to block Twitter in April 2016 "in a move underscoring its concern with the spread of online information".
