We sat down with students at the University of Minnesota to hear their reactions, in their own words.

For these young Somali Americans, the president’s words hit close to home. They worry about how his comments shape public perceptions of their community, especially among people who know little about Somalis.

But they also have a message they want the rest of the country to hear about who they are, what they’ve accomplished and why they’re proud to be Somali American.

NEW: Türkiye, Qatar, Pakistan and Indonesia have signed a defense industry cooperation pact called “Badr” in Doha, Qatar.

The four countries’ defense ministers signed the memorandum of understanding.

The deal covers joint production, research and development, and technical military training.

It aims to move existing bilateral projects into a multilateral industrial framework.

Each country will contribute its own military production strengths.

The name “Badr” means full moon in Arabic.
