It’s time I wrote an exposé of the “TERFS”. In black&white from an inside woman here - finally- is the TRUTH about women at the heart of what has been called the terf industrial complex. This is who they are&who they support.This is who activists are tirelessly fighting against:
@roserickford @MForstater Glorious analogy!
Pop evolutionary psychology always reminds me of Voltaire’s Doctor Pangloss:
“Observe: noses were made to support spectacles, hence we have spectacles. Legs, as anyone can plainly see, were made to be breeched, and so we have breeches…”
@NewarkWomen@j4ppleby Have to lay my hands on that raging, coruscating early edition you mentioned in another thread! So bloody important that we don’t, in this exciting new wave of grass roots ‘pragmatic’ feminism, junk the scholarship of the 2nd wave, much of which is as fresh and relevant as ever
@TybilAlper@MForstater@marstrina My pleasure. It's the best critique I’ve read of The Case Against the Sexual Revolution, but so much more too, because of the context you provide on feminism’s long dialogue with evolutionary psychology. Hope lots of people read it.
@j4ppleby@NewarkWomen Yes.
She’s talking about invisible male bias in the ev. psych. establishment, which appeals to the infallible authority of capital-S Science while pushing highly contested theories. The ™ is a teasing shorthand. She’s not for one moment denying science/evolution/biology.
@MForstater@marstrina *risks.
It’s a caveat, because things you have said on this have really troubled me. Not all ‘self-evident truths’ are true.
Read Elaine Morgan. Read Judith’s review of Perry’s book.
@MForstater@marstrina Seriously Maya and Jack: what are gay men and lesbians *for* in your reckoning? Why do we exist?
@tybilalper writes brilliantly about what’s at stake in her review of Louise Perry’s book in the very edition of RN you are criticising. Please read it.

@MForstater@marstrina Your embrace of pop evolutionary psychology risks leading you to evolutionary determinism, a dead-end for women: to regressive value-judgements such as “nuclear families with two parents are the best structures to bring up children” and “non-procreational sex is maladaptive”.
@DaytimePubSmell @scienceandbears @zeno001 @lecanardnoir @Dervheid And if I add the category of Comedy (as popular as Sci-Fi) to the bar chart, does it become a trimodal distribution? If I add Bollywood, is it now tetramodal?
As the categories are subjective and overlapping, how is this a graph with scientific utility, not just a bar chart?
It hasn’t sunk in yet but…SOME NEWS.
I am so profoundly grateful & relieved.
Thank you to the judge, my stellar legal team & the 29,000 people who contributed to my legal defence fund. I literally couldn’t have done it without you 🙏🙏🙏

@elonmusk@mtaibbi Humans come in two sexes- female & male. Gender refers to sex stereotypes.
Trans activists want to break sexed bodies to match gender
Sane people recognise we should break gender stereotypes, not sexed bodies.
There’s less money in teaching ppl to accept themselves.
