Q2: There also factors families cant control that make learning difficult. Ex: I had to take an exam two days ago while a neighbor was cutting down trees. There is no perfect solution, but educators should give as much control and choice to the student! 2/2 #HackLearning #ElonEd

A1: I also see the positives of the parent/educator roll as I am also able to help my mom! She wanted to make virtual college tours, and I was able to help her use Canva to make beautiful graphics for them!

I am currently a student, but my mom works in a high school. I think the educator/ parent balance is hard to find as she is expected to always be free as there is more time now. Thus she is constantly on her email or phone helping parents and students. 1/2 #HackLearning #ElonEd

A6: I think one important thing I’ve learned from online learning is that professors know how to be accommodating. Professors should be if not so more accommodating going forward as students will have less time and more respsonbitiles post quarantine.

Professors should continue this empathy for students and always try and make sure the student is okay! I have also noticed a shift in my classes as each zoom call starts with my profoessors asking how we are doing. Before, the only time I was asked this was circle time #EDU450

A5: I have taken the time, now that I have it, to practice more self care methods. The one that I enjoy the most is exercising and family walks. I also zoom call my friends often #ElonEd #EDU450

Q2: I see this through my mom, who is a high school counselor. She has been trying may different ways to show the students that they care for them and are still great resources. She does this through motivational quotes, tiktoks, and is still thinking of options #ElonEd #EDU450

Q2: I think care comes in the form of communication and understanding. Teachers need to be transparent with students and family so that they can be as prepared as possible. Also, small check ins on zoom or via email could go a long way! #ElonEd #EDU450

A1: people often see education as a caring profession because it requires empathy and patience in order to help a magnitude of different students. It also mean that sometimes educators will be drained because they are pouring their heart and soul into what they do.#ElonEd #EDU450

A4: I am experiencing this currently in my Israeli cooking class! My profoessor started his own cooking show, and is sending us recipes to make if we are able to go to the store and get the ingredients. It’s not a perfect solution, but I know my professor cares! #ElonEd

Even across the United States there are so many different mathematics structures. I had never heard of Math 1 or 2 before Elon. I grew up taking geometry or algebra 2! With this, it is so important to be empathetic with students as there are so many unique backgrounds!

Currently reflecting on the #EDU450 class discussion with @emilyfranESL. One quote that stuck out to me was that “math is not universal.” We forget all too often that different countries have education systems in place that do not all teach the same math content.
