Bruce Springsteen took the stage at the massive “No Kings” rally in St. Paul, Minnesota, and delivered a powerful, emotional address that brought the crowd to its feet before he began his performance.

“Well, this past winter, federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis. Well, they picked the wrong city,” Springsteen said to thunderous applause. “The power and the solidarity of the people of Minneapolis and of Minnesota was an inspiration to the entire country. Your strength and your commitment told us that this is still America.”

He continued with a direct jab at the Trump administration:
“And this reactionary nightmare and these invasions of American cities will not stand. You gave us hope, you gave us courage…”
Springsteen then honored the victims by name.

“For those who gave their lives -- Renee Good, mother of three, brutally murdered, Alex Pretti, a VA nurse, executed by ICE, shot in the back and left to die in the street without even the decency of our lawless government investigating their deaths. Their bravery, their sacrifice, and their names will not be forgotten.”

He closed the speech with a powerful new verse he wrote for the occasion, describing citizens standing up against “King Trump’s private army from the DHS” amid smoke and rubber bullets.

This is Bruce Springsteen talking about the America we all love and fear fear losing at the hands of Trump and his minions – using his platform to call out authoritarian overreach, honor the fallen, and remind the country that resistance is still alive.

Americans no longer believe a good life is attainable

I don't have healthcare because when I was laid off, obviously I lost my insurance and I found a way to work for myself, but I, I can't afford, I can't afford healthcare. If I do need something, I'm paying out of pocket. The list just goes. It's never ending. And I think we're all just at a f*cking point where we're, we're done, we're exhausted.“

“I grew up in Switzerland and no one believes me when I say the American food system is rigged... I used to eat pasta, pizza, everything — and I was skinny and fit and I looked great. Okay then I moved to America. Became so active, I became a runner, I started eating gluten free, I literally counted my calories and I gained 30 pounds.
