@HoggoDoggo @BlueSnoopLemon@Cyyfur LEDs in suits are safe. The incident with cy was an isolated one. I've done hundreds of claws since and not an issue. All my work is fully heat shrinked and water proofed.
Here is a vid last week doing mBlades hexagons
@HoggoDoggo @BlueSnoopLemon@Cyyfur 3/2? I Also have many safety techniques going on here. There is a master 20a fuse from the battery, and 8 5a fuses for each zone. A LiFepo4 battery is used which cannot catch fire. And ontop of that. It's in a fireproof bag just in case.
@HoggoDoggo @BlueSnoopLemon@Cyyfur 2/2 When I heard about it. I had the hand paws shipped back to me and I replaced all the LEDs with ws2812 5050 on pcb's. And shipped them back. Issue solved. Again. I'm trying to set the record straight. And I'm very sorry that this happened.
@HoggoDoggo @BlueSnoopLemon@Cyyfur The fire part was exaggerated. And yes of coarse I'm trying to save face. I'm giving the full story. The issue was in the hand claws. I used these big apa104 8mm LEDs that were set in drilled holes. One of them had an internal short and got hot. There was no fire. 1/2
Since I created my light suit in 2015. I have now updated the system. 536 individually soldered LEDs. Water proofed. Teensy 3.1 with a mic. 42Wh LiFe power. I now have 4 buttons (from 3). LEDs built right into the body.
Now I match my @VRChat avatar.
See you at @FurryWeekend
Yup, I still have that original prototype harness, haven't broken it yet. It has been to numerous cons and even Burningman. I take it to events to let others enjoy it.
@TheBeastcub That is a real shame. I have done many led eyes for toony to realistic for 5 years. Never had an issue.
Perhaps your LED kit didn't have the right resistor selected.
I created a 3D printed sculpture for the charity auction at @furality#FuralityLuma . It raised $1000 USD for @saveafox !!! It is powered by USB, and controlled via an ATTiny85 controller and a button. Made in Fusion360, printed on a Ender3 V2 with RGB pla.
