@adam_badar_@inferredbylisa It is because you are 23. There is a difference between pursuing something genuinely noble and a generic desire to look important.
0% chance Nietzsche was talking about an obsessive chase for bourgeois respectability.
@TravelbytheCoin@EricRSammons Mormons put a lot of effort into telling members, especially children, how to spread the word.
They absolutely do not emphasize the stranger lore.
@Howlingmutant0@DespairNem It's a very flawed, but impressive work. I give it a lot of credit for sticking the landing and managing to tie it all together in the final chapters. Author got preachy in a way which felt totally earned.
@thebloatmaxxxer@MYTHOTROPOS Recently finished Titus Groan. Peake has some of the best prose and atmosphere I've read, but man that book as issues with pacing.
@souljagoyteller He is representative of how the system tends towards amorality and doesn't question itself, with rational decisions adding up to gross indecency over time.
It was mathematically possible to kill a leviathan with a knife in the same way it's possible to max out a character in the first area of an RPG.
This is not a meaningful change.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO SUBNAUTICA 2..
> be Subnautica 2 developers
> player politely asks why you can’t kill most creatures
> level designer snaps back: "This is not a killing game, go play Sons of the Forest if you want violence"
> another dev adds that big creatures will stay safe because "the game should feel right"
The first Subnautica let you stab leviathans with a knife.
Now they want you to peacefully coexist with 50-meter monsters like it’s a underwater yoga class.
Why do developers treat their most loyal fans like this?
Why can’t they just answer normally without being condescending and aggressive?
Loyal players are the ones who supported you for years.
If you keep talking down to them, they’ll simply stop playing.
And in the end, you - the developers - will be the ones who lose the most.
Peak "go touch grass" energy in 2026.
You think this approach will help the game long-term or are we watching it slowly die?
