The bikes met the boats as we rolled into Porthclais harbour yesterday. An artist stood painting beside the coastal path, as two young hikers came wandering along with tents and bags in tow. The small cafe now open, filled with happy faces. The road to summer had begun.

She’d seen a lot through those long dark nights. She’d heard the rivalry of gulls, seen the fall of an empress, the nocturnal fishing boats, the summer memory seekers, and the great trawlers of the havens. Old now, lights out, but she can still be seen today. Still standing.

13 mile quickie down Broadhaven. Looks pretty (it was), but powered by social anxiety and wild boars (of sorts). Some days it’s purely about the burn and the zones for fitness. There’ll be gentler rides to come.
