I have done so much research on my object, almond milk, and now hope to continue learning about it even after the completion of my AB and infographic. Did your object peak a similar interest for yourself? Do you want to expand your knowledge outside of class? #GlobalStudies150
I am very excited to return to campus for our last class together and am very intrigued to see everyone's infographic. Something I think will be fun to see is how each student interpreted the project differently. #GlobalStudies150
I cannot believe we are on our last week of the quarter. This class has been so much fun, and I feel confident that I improved my understanding of global study topics as well as my ability as a writer. What is something you were able to improve on this quarter?#GlobalStudies150
I have never written an Annotated Bibliography before and feel grateful that our class has been able to workshop this assignment through multiple instructional weeks and multiple peer review sessions. What have been your biggest struggles with this assignment?

I really enjoyed getting feedback from my peers this week and feel as though my Annotated Bibliography has benefited greatly. I wonderโฆ What was the most useful advice you received from your peers? What makes this piece of advice applicable to your writing? #GlobalStudies150
I thought the assigned Seattle Times article from this week did a terrific job detailing the ways Washingtonians much like ourselves can take action by thinking globally and acting locally. Finally, I hope we continue to explore this issue in class. (Pt. 2 of 2) #globalstudies150
I am deeply saddened by the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine and feel great sympathy for those who are most impacted by this tension through displacement, injuries, or even death. (Pt. 1 of 2).

I loved learning more about almond milk this week and was surprised to learn that my object has undergone recent technological advancements in terms of production to ensure longer shelf life and more health benefits! Hope this will make it more sustainable #GlobalStudies150
Does avoiding bulk buying contribute to having a healthier lifestyle? Also, do American spending habits in relation to 'more is better', relate to national obesity rates? #GlobalStudies150
This week I was shocked to learn about American overconsumption habits. Personally, I saw several parallels between the anthropologist's findings and my own family. After watching the video, do you want to change the way you purchase items/groceries? #GlobalStudies150
Almond milk is an object that is actively manipulated through strategic advertising to seem more environmentally conscious than it actually is. To me, this shows how โethical capitalism can be both well-intentioned and misplaced. Why not be more transparent? ๐ง #GlobalStudies150
I really enjoyed reading more about everyoneโs chosen topic and am very excited to dive into my own object and research question. One thing I would like to ask the class is whether or not their object shares similarities with the mass production of fast fashion?#GlobalStudies150
Karl Marx had many profound ideas in regards to capitalism that have proved to stand the test of time. I particularly enjoy how these dictums can be further discussed today to reflect global changes much like with "ethical capitalismโ and consumer activity.

@EdwardZ002 This is a very interesting point. While I do think in general people slowed down their consumption of fashion since quarantine, I do think people have been wasteful in other ways. Just think of the amount of packaging waste caused by the influx of online orders during this time.
In The True Cost, I thought it was fascinating to learn about advertisements, specifically in the way they are designed to prey upon the insecurities of consumers. Can you think of a time an ad made you feel pressured to buy something?
#GlobalStudies150
While watching The True Cost, I was shocked to learn about the consequences of fast fashion, particularly on those who are exploited for their labor. With this in mind, how will this documentary reshape your consumer habits related to fashion? #GlobalStudies150
In The True Cost, Catherine Chalot proposed a unique solution to fashion waste with upcycling design. What are other items, besides textiles, from your day-to-day life do you think could be upcycled into something functional? (below is mason jar planters)
