Good morning! Here are a few more reasons I’m voting yes on Madison’s Municipal Referendum:
✅ supporting services for our elders.
✅ supporting affordable efforts to help folks housed.
The main thesis of @mnolangray's book (very simplified) is "zoning bad," but the thing that most stuck with me is the corollary: that as planners grew increasingly obsessed with zoning and the uses of privately owned land, we completely lost sight of the public realm.
The biggest event tonight (obviously) is Madison Common Council! Tonight the Northeast and West area plans are up for approval. Most controversial element is the proposed extension of Nakoosa Trail, & affordable student housing bonus floor policy .https://t.co/egvqiglrEs
Hey folks, we’re also taking up the Northeast Area Plan tonight. We’re still over here on the east side existing. Also, over 400 folks have signed a petition opposing a proposed road through a portion of Sycamore Park. Residents are engaged over here too.

The City partnered with @UWMadison to conduct this Student Housing Market and Affordability Analysis, here are some takeaways I have as a leading member of this study group.
I'll also share more about how this data will be used immediately by the City.

Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway @SatyaForMadison@src2 is shepherding zoning reforms to expand what can be built as of right to help ease her city's housing shortage, decades in the making. We're excited to have her join the #YIMBYsForHarris call! 🏗️🏘️🌇🎉
"Housing is fundamental to making sure everyone can thrive & be successful in their life." Sheboygan, WI Mayor Ryan Sorenson @RyanSorensonWI gets it. He has worked tirelessly to improve existing housing stock & incentivize the development of new affordable homes. #YIMBYsForHarris
Housing Week Begins! We could probably just fix Madison's affordable housing problem by zoning the entire city to be at least as dense as Tenney-Lapham.
