๐ Over 13 years, data from 7.4M ewes revealed lower-than-expected pregnancy rates, pointing to #fertilitychallenges in the #Australiansheep. ๐ฆ๐บ
This study uses extensive datasets to gain insights into #sheepreproduction and can help farmers optimise #breeding practices. ๐ฑ
My colleagues at USYD and I have done some digging around in pregnancy scanning records. We were surprised by what we have revealed. Very pleased to have this work published.

Iโve been with @MadisonGolledge, who is creating machine learning algorithms for automated detection of preg status, fetal number, age & health using videos of transabdominal ultrasound. With ~3000 videos and a huge range of litters and anomalies, thereโs plenty to do!
We've had two fabulous ANZPRA sessions at #SRB2023! Thank you to all the speakers and chairs of our 'Novel Models in Pregnancy Research' and congratulations to our rising stars/finalists in the SRB-ANZPRA new investigator award! #teamplacenta@ESASRB@ReproductionSRB
Very grateful to have the opportunity to share a snapshot of my honours project for the @MerinoLink hour of power. Discussed a novel technology for objective ram semen analysis. @ARGUS_oz@SiaSydney
Great week at the MerinoLink conference meeting and learning from influential members of the sheep industry. Incredibly proud to be a part of the @ARGUS_oz team! Time to get to work. #fortheloveofrepro#WomenInSTEM#WomenInRepro
Great experience learning how to pregnancy scan yesterday with @ARGUS_oz. Gained a huge appreciation for the pregnancy scanning data I have the opportunity to analyse, currently at 11,000 mobs scanned and counting! ๐
Extremely educating day at the Livestock Production in the Rangelands forum in Hay, NSW! Discussed strategies of benchmarking ewe fertility, decreasing reproductive wastage, and maximizing productivity with top researchers in their field. #WomenInScience#WomenInRepro
Day 4 of @ARGUS_oz Smart Tag trial. The final 200 ewes tagged with bluetooth smart tags, and the rams to be joined with them got theirs along with smart tag harnesses to monitor reproductive behaviours. Amazing work by everyone!! #WomenInSTEM@WinRS_SSR@SiaSydney@SydneySOLES
Day 3 of @ARGUS_oz Smart Tag trial. Amazing team tagging ewes to be joined this week with bluetooth smart tags. Thanks to all for powering through over 600 ewes today and congratulations @EmmahTumeth on running a successful day! #WomenInSTEM@WinRS_SSR@SiaSydney@SydneySOLES
