Alternately, the weakest point was the biker gang at the end and their motives. It would have been more believable if they were simply agents of chaos, but stealing jewels and money in an apocalypse where money means nothing? It just turns them into weakly-written "bad guys"
My favourite detail in Dawn of the Dead (1978) is the scene where Peter paints the walls of their bunker to make it more homely and personal. It's only a couple of seconds long, but it's such a cleverly crafted and poignant look into human adaptability and emotion.
I've been feeling guilty about not writing recently, as if I'm somehow 'giving up' by concentrating on my new job/living situation. But what I'm trying to focus on is that this job will enable me to write - working separately to writing so I can pay the bills is not giving up.
