We have forgotten we are a people of covenant. We didnโt leave Britain because we hated being English. Rather, because our king didnโt treat us as English citizens, we forged a new nation in the tradition of our noble English heritage.
250 years later the covenant that people of this nation are born into is falling apart. Invaders cause strife through cultural degradation, leaders act without care for the constituents, and love of God and our particular people is at an all time low.
We must reclaim our birthright. We must find pride, not in degenerate ideologies that pit the desires of an individual against the good of a nation, but in the heritage we have that makes us American. We must once again see that God is great, America is good and we can have our home again.
When you go back and look, who were the 2 elected officials most responsible for exposing the communist infiltration of the US govt?
Senator Joseph McCarthy
Congressman Richard Nixon
Are you getting it yet?
This is far more common than people think and is growing exponentially. The confidentiality aspect of counseling also presents obvious problems. The exposure of sin without the authority to discipline while simultaneously constrained by a commitment to keep confidence is a hindrance on both parties.
Example: A woman is cheating on her husband. Seeks counseling due to guilt. Counselor can't tell her pastors and is put in the position of shepherding a soul out of sin. Woman wants to bury the situation and repent quietly. Counselor feels utterly constrained.
I am all for pastors and elders educating themselves in methods of biblical counseling - in fact, I encourage it. There are good resources for this. I am also all for their wives doing the same as they assist women in the body. But a compartmentalized counseling ministry without proper pastoral oversight and crystal clear process to both the counselor and counselee is a recipe for absolute disaster.
The one thing I resent the most about the young, restless, and reformed movement is how it made me an intellectual critic of my own people.
Now I view the remnants of that movement as a post-war liberal neo-calvinism that functioned as an acid bath of deconstruction against the simple, inherited, generational faith of working-class people who might not know complex theological jargon but know how to pray, work hard, and take care of their neighbors.
You know, the kind of osmosis that can build and sustain a community.
I am a proponent of cultural Christianity.
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory,
but when the wicked rise, people hide themselves.

The trick is commitment
Be an empire or reject it entirely
Be a republic or abandon it entirely
The worst possible path is the one weโve chosen where America tries to split the difference
Worldliness says, โThe creature is God.โ
Pietism says, โThe creature is dirty.โ
Christianity says, โThe creature is good, but God is supreme.โ
