559 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school. Afghan girls and women continue to be denied their basic rights and continue to be pushed out of the public eye across Afghanistan #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
549 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school. Afghanistan is the only country on earth where the rights of girls and women have been rolled back so dramatically, so quickly. Girls are denied an education as a matter of state policy #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
343 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school. Afghan women and girls remain shut out of their classrooms, unable to get an education and unsure if they’ll ever be able to return #LetAfghanGirlsLearn

Daily life has become a frozen hell for the people of Afghanistan.
As a matter of moral responsibility — and regional and global security and prosperity — we cannot abandon them.
They need peace. They need hope. They need help. And they need it now.
We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness. Thank you to our Vietnamese-American friends and neighbors who have shown our community so much compassion and care over the last several months.
123 days ago the Taliban effectively banned teenage girls from attending school. Boys of all ages were allowed back but girls over 12 were not. While some provinces have allowed girls to return to their classrooms, millions are still waiting #LetAfghanGirlsLearn#Afghanistan
I’ve witnessed incredible sacrifices over my lifetime by Americans seeking to protect each other, and our country's freedom. You know what isn't much of a sacrifice? Wearing a darn mask. I just don't get it. I really don't. And I never will.
Across Afghanistan, women and girls are missing from offices and classrooms.
No country can thrive while denying the rights of half its population.
The women and girls of Afghanistan must have access to all education & employment opportunities and health care services.
Just received my first denial notice from @uscis for an Afghan humanitarian parole applicant. A single mom who worked for the World Bank and who is exactly the type of person the Taliban is targeting. Although we have been bracing for these denials, it's still stunning.
