Hand Hygiene plays a vital role when it comes to shielding and safeguarding ourselves and others from numerous diseases. This week @teamwghicu have had some fun for World Hand Hygiene day whilst sharing knowledge from our workshops.

We are very proud to be Team of the Month at @WghLothian!
The ICU is a multidisciplinary group of people of different professional and personal backgrounds - but we all come together and become @teamwghicu to care for our patients and for each other ❤️💜❤️
Team of the month at the WGH - Ward 20 ICU -
Recognised for continuing to deliver high standards of care with utmost professionalism at all times. They strive to deliver patient centred care as well as having dealt with a recent fire.
If anyone wants to know why I keep banging on about airborne - it's largely survivor's guilt.
On ICU we were well protected (locally with reusable elastomerics) and staff infections were rare.
Others were sent into "the zone" with splash protection against an airborne threat.
"Our machines and potions are impressive, but the most powerful ICU tool is—and likely always will be—skilled bedside staff, working in experienced teams, taught by experts, and supported by skilled colleagues."
Our charge nurse Penny is working toward making ICU less challenging for neurodivergent people and for people with learning difficulties - would love to hear what other ICUs are doing /
ICU can be an extremely challenging environment for autistic people
For #WorldAutismAcceptanceWeek we have made this video to give an idea of the sensory challenges of being an ICU patient

I’m very sorry to report that @CambsCC have approved the felling of 1000 ancient fruit trees within an orchard just outside #Cambridge for a new bus route to…get this…tackle climate change! 😖 Please continue to support @BonkersBusway. It’s not over yet
