President Cyril Ramaphosaโs urgent application to halt Parliamentโs impeachment inquiry over the Phala Phala matter will be heard in the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town on 15 and 16 July 2026.
Ramaphosa is seeking an interdict to stop the Section 89 impeachment process from proceeding while his separate court challenge to the independent panel report is still pending.
The president argues that the inquiry should not continue until the courts have ruled on the legality and validity of the report that forms the basis of the impeachment proceedings.
