A bit late post but happy I could attend #MACRO2024 this year. It was a bit hectic but totally worth it, great to catch up with friends old and new :) Now back to maternity break, see you soon! @mothersinsci
@fred_opj Thanks Fred! Yes, this is really interesting, I have even carried out photoRAFT with light wavelengths which had no overlap with the abs spectrum
Interested in RAFT? Polymerization kinetics? Photopolymerizations? Look now further and check out our work on the effect of monomer, RAFT agent and light intensity on the kinetics of photoiniferter-RAFT polymerization
We have just published an excellent paper on Kinetic investigation of photoiniferter-RAFT polymerization in continuous flow using inline NMR analysis.

We are back tomorrow for week 3, in which we will dive into the intricacies of colloids with @JulianHeuer and @BelluatiAndrea. See you at 15:00 UK time!
Ready, set, register!! We have a group of fantastic PhD students and postdocs ready to share their recent research in macromolecular science. Our FREE weekly webinars start Tue 5-March at 15:00 (UK). Sign up using the link below - and tell your friends! ๐ https://t.co/bcuqSbTXg2
Bitter-sweet feelings as my time at Monash is over. I had a great time exploring flow chemistry and Australia. Huge thank you to everyone in the PRD group, you made me feel very welcome. Thanks to Tanja Junkers and @SebPerrier for this opportunity! @TeamPerrier
@ChemistMhmdJ To improve the second factor (stability of TTC end group) - there are some reports showing that adding a tertiary amine can reduce TTC radical to a TTC anion which prevents degradation. However, we havenโt seen big improvements in our system.
@ChemistMhmdJ Green light works better than blue so likely shifting to even longer light wavelength could improve the livingness. However, this will increase time reaction significantly and can also lead to poor initiation, which will lead to broader dispersity.
@Satu_Hakkinen For MMA I suspect it's similar as I don't have (big) initialisation period. I think for PMMA the main problem is the end group degradation which will happen throughout the entire polymerization and this would be applicable to every trithiocarbinate based RAFT agent! /2
