Although I like the *idea* of a Batman movie channeling Se7en, it requires skillful writing. Instead, The Batman is a bloated slog. Highlights: Gotham City and Farrell’s Penguin. Lowlights: Emo Bruce Wayne, underwhelming Riddler, rambling script, & lack of editing.
Personally, it’s just above Curly Sue in Hughes’ directorial credits. Lower tier Hughes for me. #UnpopularOpinion
It wallows in the teen clichés, even for the time. Absolutely LOVE the rest of the films he directed though.
The birth of a classic - The Breakfast Club debuted in cinemas today in 1985. Critics consider it among the greatest films of all time, as well as one of John Hughes' most memorable and recognizable works. #80s#80smovies
I am taking time to reflect and recognize this as a teachable moment. Now is the time for change. Effective immediately, I will be watching episodes of Cheers. I apologize to Ted Danson, his family, and his wrists during this trying time. 🙏🙏 #SorryTedDanson
OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Last night in a dream I threatened to break Ted Danson’s wrist. This type of behavior is unacceptable, even if it was ‘80s Ted Danson and he was putting trash on my shoulder during a long bus ride. Threats of violence are NEVER ok. This is not who I am. (1/2)
Finally watched No Time to Die.
What a lame conclusion to Craig's run as Bond. Blofeld, Spectre, Felix, and Bond himself get send offs with the emotional resonance of a half-hearted shrug.
Spider-Man: No Way Home lived up to the hype. Great mix of fun and high stakes with characters you actually care about. My fear was it would rely too much on "HEY REMEMBER...?" but it succeeds in tapping into Spidey nostalgia IN SUPPORT of a plot (unlike Ghostbusters '21).
Finally got to see Ghostbusters: Afterlife and it’s ‘member berries with kids.
Originality is a thing of the past. Nostalgia is a genre now. #GhostbustersAfterlife
