@BBCPolitics@BBCOne@BBCiPlayer Ask Lisa Nandy about Chris Goode & Co and watch her crumble. The single biggest scandal in the publicly funded arts sector for the last 5 years and she's done literally nothing about it. If she says the words 'getting on with the job'... well, get on with it then.
...which means there's no off-ramp period. America can't afford even the impression of a loss in the war, especially with Russia still fighting into Ukraine and China testing its ghost fleet in the South China Sea. If Iran is seen to beat away the US, grenade -> pin.
Unfortunately it looks like this is going to become another forever war. If the US is serious about occupying Kharg, that's a demonstrable centrepiece that every Iranian regime can reference (if the occupation happens) as 'the real reason for the war'. The narrative goes from...
... democracy and freedom, to colonialism and stealing another countries resources. Context shifts from preventing nuclear proliferation to 'first they stole Venezuela's oil, then they went after Iran's oil'. I don't see an off-ramp that isn't a political loss from Trumps ego...
@MartinSLewis We spent millions on the Cultural Olympiad in 2012, under the guise that it would lead to a great artistic legacy... do you know where that legacy is? Anyone?
@MartinSLewis Why is the National Youth Theatre, which presents itself as, at least in part, an educational/training facility for children, not Ofsted inspected like other formal educational settings?
@MartinSLewis Why is so much public money spent on Arts Council England when there are so many cases of abuse within ACE funded institutions, and seemingly no plans to introduce reforms that would prevent future abuses occurring.
@lyngardner There is currency to this as virtually no changes have been implemented across the sector to protect young actors from this kind of abuse. Even the organisations that held inquiries have no public record of implementing the inquiries recommendations. It's a complete farce.
@TheStage@MrLukowski@helenlewis For those counting, I've just listed 11 theatres, 2 educational institutions, and the arts council as supporters of his work & career from 2001 to at least 2018... only 2 YouTube videos left of him. #coverup
@TheStage@MrLukowski@helenlewis So when I say there appears to have been a concerted effort to affect a coverup, I'm not saying that flippantly - a large number of publicly funded institutions worked with him and yet there is less than a handful of articles regarding him and no demonstrable new safeguarding.
@TheStage@MrLukowski@helenlewis@theyardtheatre also worked with him although they should be commended for not trying to cover up this association.
Other venues include @traversetheatre, theatre royal bath & plymouth, Manchester royal exchange, the contact theatre & more (those are the ones I can remember)
@TheStage@MrLukowski@helenlewis And where is The Arts Council in all this? They funded his abuse for years (Chris Goode & Co was a national portfolio organisation!) and yet nothing from them. No accountability, not even a semblance of it. Buried is an understatement.
@TheStage@MrLukowski@helenlewis Those that enabled him are still in prominent positions of power across the industry and future abuses haven't been prevented because the promise of better safeguarding procedures haven't materialised in any demonstrable way.
@TheStage@MrLukowski@helenlewis There has been a clear concerted effort by institutions and theatre companies to commandeer cancel culture to affect a coverup (in essence) of ever having worked with him. E.g Dante or Die do not mention him at all in relation to 'User Not Found' even though he was the writer
Our founder Sam Howard is giving a rare keynote talk at PBX Europe on September 19th. The talk is centred around automated follow up and what we have learnt that actually works, from managing over 300 clients in the past 3 years!
Over the past few months we have been quietly working away at something quite special. Sometimes, especially in marketing, we get a bit too caught up in the outbound, in the 'look at me" side of things, which is great for selling... but we've been building. And it's nearly ready
