Building Magical Birthday Planner - AI-powered tools to plan unforgettable kidsβ birthday parties. Sharing the journey & learning in public. #BuildInPublic πβ¨
Nobody plans a kid's birthday at a desk. It happens in a parking lot, a waiting room, on the couch at 10 pm.
So v1.0 is a phone app first. It installs from the browser like an app, and on a laptop you get the same single column.

The part of a launch nobody sees:
Jul 31, 2025 β first commit
Aug 2025 β 435 commits on a prototype
Oct 6, 2025 β last prototype commit
Then nearly a year of nothing.
Oct 2026 β the rebuild
Oct 13, 2026 β launch

AI helps where ideas and judgment help: themes, activities, plans, what to say.
Plain software handles what has to be exact: accounts, RSVPs, totals, payments.

The idea behind Magical Birthday Planner in one line:
A birthday party is one project, so it should be one plan.
Venue, theme, activities, guests, invitations, RSVPs, food, budget, checklist β all reading from the same party.
Parents: what holds your plan together today?
The first requirement for this product didn't come from a spec. It came from my daughter's birthday.
The hard part of planning it wasn't any one task. It was that none of the pieces knew about each other.
So I built one where they do. It launches October 13 β her 7th birthday.
Planning a kid's birthday is a distributed system with no database.
Ideas in search results. Guests in message threads. The budget in a note. Dates in a calendar. Every piece updated by hand, and nothing keeps them in sync.
That's the bug I set out to fix.
