Quite humbled to receive the @RoyalAstroSoc Early Career Award 🙏 grateful to the inspiring and generous people who have been supporting my work and providing me the opportunities for exploring new paths 🧡
The Early Career Award in Geophysics goes to Dr Giulia Magnarini, of @NHM_London, in recognition of "her pioneering research using a multi-disciplinary approach to further our understanding of long runout landslides across the Solar System".
Well done Dr Magnarini! 👍 👏
On this day in 1988, Buran became the first and only orbiter from the program to reach space after it launched from Baikonur for a conservative two-orbit uncrewed test flight.
Here's a supercut of the only Energia-Buran launch with some lesser known shots sprinkled in. Enjoy!
Curious about the backgrounds of the @GeoTdF project? We wrote a little paper about it all, and it just came out in Geology Today! with @vanHinsbergen @marjieparj, @JoseBeenTV .

Woww... really impressive rock avalanche today in Vallon de Bérard (Aig. Rouges, Vallorcine)! 🔥
Seems to originate from Aig. de l'Encrenaz (2887 m) and went down to valley floor at 1700 m... 😱
Look at the size of those bouncing boulders! 🪨
Sound on ! 🔊
