The Angel Gabriel greeted Mary as "kecharitomene" which means full of grace. One cannot be full of grace with room for sin at the same time. Mary was also pre-configured by 12 women, one for each of the 12 eras of the Old Testament. Outside of the 12, there are other women that foreshadowed Mary but not like the 12 that contributed to her composite in the New Testament. The church fathers you speak of also believe that a human Mary would affirm the humanity of Jesus. Mary is very much human, but her role in the church and for humanity's salvation is explained through a Redemptive Arc across the Bible that ends with a clear picture of fulfillment of a promise from the beginning. Also, Muslims additionally believe Mary was sinless (and free of original sin) so another example of agreement on Mary's state of grace.
@GlendaAllene@ChristandGuitar Jesus chose Peter. 🤣 I've studied both the Old and the New very well, which is how I shut your false accusations down every time. Next?
False. Muslim Marian Doctrine shares a lot of beliefs with the early Christian Church. Mary is also the only woman mentioned by name in the entire Quran. The Quran mentions Mary's name more times than the Bible. The Quran also has an entire chapter about Mary, "Surah 19, Maryam". In the Hadith, Muhammad includes Mary (and lists her name first) in the greatest women of all time. Mary came in the New Testament of the Bible but was foreshadowed by many women of the Old Testament including Eve and Moses's sister, Miriam. If you believe in the Quran then you believe in much of Jesus and Mary's story.
Jesus instructed the Apostles to teach, he did not travel with scribes. The Word was meant to be taught and that is exactly what they did. Jesus did not give authority to anyone outside of the 12 which is why their names are written into the foundation of the wall of the New Jerusalem in Revelation. Zero Baptist pastors have the authority given to the apostolic churches.
@GlendaAllene@ChristandGuitar Rome has the authority of Jesus gave to Peter. We are obedient, not scared. Your church disobeys the Bible and Jesus's teachings. That is quite a heavy yoke.
The official Proclamation was published in 1854 and identifies the beginning of Marian prophecy in Gen 3:15. It also identifies "full of grace" to ground the sinlessness of Mary, who eventually fulfilled Genesis 3:15. "When the Fathers and writers of the Church meditated on the fact that the most Blessed Virgin was, in the name and by order of God himself, proclaimed full of grace[22] by the Angel Gabriel when he announced her most sublime dignity of Mother of God, they thought that this singular and solemn salutation, never heard before, showed that the Mother of God is the seat of all divine graces and is adorned with all gifts of the Holy Spirit." The document doesn't mention it but the word used for "woman" in reference to Eve was also used by Jesus when he gave his Earthly sonship to Mary to John, affirming her identification. John does not use this word for any other woman but Mary. Since you are Catholic, I'm sure you are aware that John cared for Mary until the end of her days, largely in Ephesus. On a side note, the Virginity of Mary helped Artemis (perpetual virgin Goddess) believers in Ephesus (global headquarters for Artemis worshipers) embrace a new Mother, Theotokos. ⬇️ is a link to the document. They also refer to instances of foreshadowing of Mary's sinlessness from the Old Testament. But the Angel Gabriel's salutation to her is the anchor for her sinlessness. https://t.co/zpdzXL5xv9
@GlendaAllene@ChristandGuitar I am on the truth. Remove tradition and your church is still disobeying the Bible, and most importantly, Jesus’s words in it.
To understand Marian theology you have to read the entire Bible, understand the OT typologies and foreshadowing of Mary, NT fulfillment, how the arc of Mary’s story supports her son’s the way the Apolstolic churches did, and why developed their doctrine. If you aren’t willing to educate yourself, there is nothing to discuss. I will not debate AI slop positions. It’s lazy and extremely inappropriate for any Christian to make false statements about Jesus’s Blessed Mother. You are accountable for how you treat the Mother of the Church (appointed by her son).
Alll of our traditions and doctrine help the church protect Peter’s promises to Jesus. Jesus himself warned about false teachers who co-opt or use his Church for ill will. This is what is happening in your Church. You just elected a President that calls your sex abuse problem a “hoax” despite your own investigation finding 400 cases. Your Church teaches Christian Zionism, unbiblical baptism, unbiblical views on helping the poor and marginalized, weaponizes scripture against women, and repeatedly rejects the One Holy Catholic and Apolstilc Church. Scripture alone opens the door for the devil to send false preachers to weaponize scripture and teach unbiblical “interpretation” which has been happening and now at an accelerated rate. Jesus commanded the disciples to teach what He taught them, not for people to self teach themselves. Apostolic succession and authority protects Jesus’s teachings your Church repeatedly rejects. The Bible is meant to be taught by those with authority. Come home.
@madmandrils@sanderson1611 I was almost one of them and pray we reunite one day. I fully support them no matter what and have so much respect for their Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. Also happy to keep receiving communion from the Catholic Church.
