@donnabrazile Politicians don’t end campaigns. They suspend them. Why? Mostly because of money. It’s a legal distinction with real financial consequences, even though everyone understands the campaign is effectively over.

“Language is one of the things making us human and all of a sudden a mediator is stepping into that process. AI is forcing itself in as a gatekeeper of knowledge and understanding.”

Really enjoyed joining Nick Standlea for this conversation.
An idea I keep coming back to: The coming “cost apocalypse” — why today’s cheap, subsidized AI won’t stay that way

"Yes, it’s too soon to tell, but it is interesting that large language models, as opposed to social media, have tended to be much more aligned with what we would consider objective reality and truth. That is, I think it’s not so easy to get a large language model to endorse a ridiculous conspiracy theory, such as that the 2020 U.S. election was stolen or that COVID vaccines are actually microchips that Bill Gates is implanting to surveil us. All of those ideas are very easy to find on social media. And it may indeed be, as you say, that large language models tend to gravitate toward common priors—namely, all the knowledge that’s out there on the web. But, in particular, during pre-training and post-training—the fine-tuning process—they are engineered to be aligned with truth and reality. And that is because the AI companies have a different business model than the social media companies."

Two sons lost on the same morning to different harms on Snapchat. This profound loss ignited a movement born from a desire to prevent others from experiencing similar tragedy. #DigitalSafety#Parenting
The Kids Act is NOT a win. It's a slap in the face to parent survivors who fought for safety by design and duty of care. This bill explicitly removes that duty of care for companies. #KidsAct#ParentRights#SafetyByDesign
Comcast’s breakup of NBCUniversal isn’t about television. It’s about power. The old model was built on owning distribution. The next media giants won’t decide what gets made. They’ll decide what gets seen #nextmedia#truth
Online communication needs to be healthier to build a better society. The core of it all is our ability to speak and understand each other to solve common problems and seize opportunities. #OnlineSafety#Communication
As AI interfaces become more common, transparency about their economic incentives is crucial. We need robust auditing to understand how these 'agentic' systems might manipulate users, push political agendas. #AIEthics#TechTransparency#FutureOfAI
Today is Social Media Victims Remembrance Day, and parents, families, and advocates are gathering in Washington, DC, to honor the memory of young people who have lost their lives to social media harms. SMC's Emma Lembke will be in DC to support parents and support change. https://t.co/jAIWlDDY45
