Excited to share this paper about how harm reduction responses to the housing and overdose crises have been shaped by relationships between state and grassroots groups. Grateful for the support of @Jeffmasuda, @dtes_collab’s TORO program, and @Vancitysam1

@Jeffmasuda @burek75 Thanks, Jeff! A great paper to check out would be https://t.co/MqHppBI9WW. Rhode’s risk environment also starts with a brief overview of the new public health, harm reduction, and the individualization of risk https://t.co/u0yzcRtVf0
Just reading federal @NDP platform. It shows that, like the @BCNDP, the party hasn't spent much time thinking about the overdose crisis. You can tell that they think it's not their issue, not their people dying. We could have helped you with this.
#DecrimDoneRight includes everyone who uses substances, no matter how much they use. #PWUD must be at the table for decision-making. The threshold amounts for substance proposed by the #VancouverModel of decriminalization are too low! @kennedystewart

VANDU resigns from the @CityofVancouver Decriminalization Working Group.
"If threshold amounts are not revised immediately and drug users continue to be tokenized in the drafting process, the 'Vancouver Model' will go down in history as a fatal misstep in drug policy."
A dark day in BC history. So much sadness. So much loss.
BC Coroner reports:
In 2020, there were 1716 people who died of a drug overdose due to the illicit drug supply & these deaths were preventable. My heart goes out to everyone who's been impacted by this ongoing crisis.💔
Rest In Peace, Jeremy.
Jeremy was one of the kindest, most caring people I’ve met. He helped people.
He saved countless lives, was the first person to graduate from the Street Degree program, and was nominated for BC’s Everyday Champion award.
Killed by bad drug policy.
Honoured to have been able to learn from the incredible @Vancitysam1, Jeremy, Devin, Starr, and everyone else @dtes_collab. Glad to see TORO’s important work being recognized https://t.co/pFdPdQEcqg
Despite the continued evidence that @fordnation and @celliottability don’t care one bit about the devastation the overdose crisis has caused under their watch, I’m still stunned by this one:
