🏴Scotland:
General takes on the 26 man squad:
Scotland’s squad is built around players from the British football system, giving them strong physicality, tactical familiarity and cohesion. Definitely a more physical team, who is looking to go into duels with no fear. A problem I could see for Scotland is creating line-breaking plays, as they might suffer from not having one player creating the overload. Especially if we do not see Ben Doak (Bournemouth) start. We could be worried not to see the most beautiful positive plays here.
Excitement Rating (1-10): 3
History:
Scotland have a proud footballing history but have rarely made a deep run at major tournaments. They have qualified for eight World Cups, with their best performances coming in the group stage, as they have never advanced to the knockout rounds.
My three most important players:
Scott McTominay (SSC Napoli), John McGinn (Aston Villa FC) and Andy Robertson (Liverpool FC/Tottenham)
Breakthrough:
I am going to choose 20 year old Ben Doak (Bournemouth) as I could see him being the one looking to create stuff if getting chances, for a not so creative heavily based Scottish team.
Tactics/Keypoints:
A key is as said for Scotland playing with no fear in the duels using their physicality in advance. Without the ball we are going to see a team looking to stand compact deep to create balance. A key for Scotland to create chances is also the two wingbacks going high when having the ball to create danger in the box. This is where we will see Scott Mctominay being crucial for adding dynamics and deep runs from the midfield for Scotland.
Formation:
Scotland can line up in many ways, but I think they will look to shift between a balanced 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, and when in pressure go down in a back 5. One of the teams where i find i most hard choosing only one formation.
Short summary of lineup choices:
Let me put it straight, we are at close to 100% not going to see Scotland line up this way, as i think Ben Doak will fall short for probably Shankland (Heart of Midlothian FC) as John Mcginn in the big matches will be much better as a hard working right midfielder. I added Ben Doak as I feel like Scotland needs someone to create overload and be the creative player. But it is probably going to come from the full backs in the big games. This could be the lineup in some way best against Haiti.

Here is my World Cup 2026 Group C Preview - Thread with analysis for every nation ⚽️📷
Predictions of the group:
1. Brazil
2. Morocco
3. Scotland
4. Haiti
Expectations:
I expect the battle of this group to be between Brazil and Morocco. Morocco do absolutely in my head stand a chance against Brazil, and it will be round 1’s biggest match for sure. Scotland could come out and show a physical level, which could be hard to deal with, but I expect them to struggle a lot against the two top teams. Haiti do not stand a chance here.
Watch worth (1-10): 8
Entertainment:
It is a very exciting group, and I am very much looking forward to the battle between Brazil and Morocco, and in general seeing how these two teams come out.
Now, let's dive into every nation in the group⬇️
🇭🇹Haiti:
General takes on the 26 man squad:
Haiti’s squad is mainly made up of players born abroad the Haitian border, spread across lower to mid-level clubs in Europe and MLS. While they don’t have many high-profile stars, they bring strong athleticism, intensity, and work rate. The team can be unpredictable and dangerous on the counterattack, but they are held back by limited depth and a lack of consistent tactical structure.
Excitement Rating (1-10): 2
History:
Haiti’s most famous football achievement remains their participation in the 1974 World Cup, their only appearance at the tournament
My three most important players:
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Wilson Isidor (Sunderland AFC)
and Hannes Delcroix (FC Lugano)
Breakthrough:
24 year old Ruben Providence could emerge as one of Haiti’s breakthrough stars. He is quick, fearless, and good in one-on-one situations.
Tactics/Keypoints:
Haiti plays a very very direct and transition-based football. They like to play attacking full backs for width and crossing (maybe they come more defensive at the World Cup). They do sometimes have a striker dropping deep to create a room for midfielders like Bellegarde (Wolverhampton) who is a dynamic player who can run into room behind the striker. He is a key point for Haiti to have some kind of success. Haiti will probably look to have chaotic and open matches for their best outcome. With Isidor (Sunderland) having joined the national team recently he is also going to be a key figure.
Formation:
Haiti will most likely come in a 4-4-2/4-2-2-2 with often shifting to a 4-2-3-1.
Short summary of lineup choices:
I have gone with the more offensive choice of Deedson (FC Dallas) on the right side, but Casimir (AJ Auxerre) could easily come in for him or Providence (Almere City FC) to add a winger with more strength defensively on the right side, which could be a good idea at the World Cup.
My Ideal Lineup:⬇️
@footilix It would be absolute insane if Son Can do it at the World Cup! 🙌
My worry is also for Them to be creating enough upfront, but let’s see what they bring to the table!
Here is my World Cup 2026 Group A Preview - Thread with analysis for every nation ⚽️🧵
Predictions of the group:
1. Czech Republic 🇨🇿
2. Mexico 🇲🇽
3. South Korea 🇰🇷
4. South Africa 🇿🇦
Expectations: I expect this group to deliver entertaining matches, as the teams are unfamiliar matchups with very different playing styles. It could easily be one of the tightest groups, with many evenly balanced games.
Watch worth (1-10): 7
Entertainment: I can easily see us getting some entertainment from different matches.
Now, let's dive into every nation⬇️
🇨🇭Switzerland:
General takes on the 26 man squad:
The Switzerland squad is strong and comes with a lot of key figures from the top 5 leagues in European football. There is a lot of talent, and there is definitely also depth to the team, which adds an opportunity to make changes in different sceneries. I like the squad in general a lot. It is what of the nations who can be a trouble for every top nation.
Excitement Rating (1-10): 7,5
History:
Switzerland have a solid World Cup history and are one of the most consistent European nations at qualifying for major tournaments. In recent years, they have regularly advanced from the group stage but have often fallen short in the Round of 16.
My three most important players:
Granit Xhaka (Sunderland), Manuel Akanji (Inter Milan) and Dan Ndoye (Nottingham Forest)
Breakthrough:
I would love to see Johan Manzambi (Freiburg) play from the start at this world cup, as he has had a great season in the Bundesliga, where he even played both as a 6, 8, 10 and even striker. He is a man who can do it all. Dynamic demon from midfield.
Tactics/Keypoints:
With the ball Switzerland is a very fluid team, who like to stretch the opposition’s defence. They have a lot of positive dynamics in the final third, where the front three has a lot of qualities in 1v1’s and they are dangerous with pace and their way to move for each other in spaces. The right back, probably being Silvan Widmer (Mainz) is good at stretching the pitch and staying wide. The midfield can be very dynamic and I personally hope to see the strong talent Johan Manzambi (Freiburg) play here. Their defence was very great in the qualifiers.
Formation:
Switzerland will line up in a 4-3-3 formation, but again they are fluid in positions. We did also see them testing out some kind of a 3-4-3, but i certainly think that is for other testing different scenaries
Short summary of lineup choices:
It is most certainly not going to be the starting eleven for Switzerland. But I would love to see the two talented midfielders Manzambi and Ardon Jashari start with leader Granit Xhaka in the midfield. I think this could add so much more to the team with dynamics and running capacity. Manzambi being an elite talent in dynamics and his way to make progressive carries (3.57 pr. 90). He could be a real threat. While Ardon Jashari could be a very good deep lying playmaker. I went with Noah Okafor on the left as I see him just being in better shape and more of a threat after a good ending at Leeds.
My Ideal Lineup:⬇️
Here is my World Cup 2026 Group B Preview - Thread with analysis for every nation ⚽️📷
Predictions of the group:
1. Switzerland
2. Canada
3. Bosnia and Herzegovina
4. Qatar
Expectations: Another group where I can see a lot of close matches from the top 3. Qatar is going to struggle a lot more. I think it will be a close run for 2nd place. I look forward to some of the matchups.
Watch worth (1-10): 7,5
Entertainment: I expect this group to be entertaining, as both Canada and Switzerland have the quality to play positive, attacking football.
Now, let's dive into every nation in the group⬇️
🇶🇦Qatar:
General takes on the 26 man squad:
It is not the squad with the most familiar names for the typical football fans. We do not have just one player from one of the European leagues. Most of the players play in the domestic league in Qatar. Most people will remember their coach Julen Lopetegui. One of the player names people could remember is the skillful Akram Afif who is probably the most legendary. The team has played together for years, which gives them chemistry but also a relatively predictable profile.
Excitement Rating (1-10): 2
History:
Qatar’s football history is very recent at the top level. Their biggest achievement was winning the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, where they impressed with a dominant run. They also hosted the 2022 World Cup, but we do remember they struggled a lot in this tournament.
My three most important players:
Akram Afif (Al Sadd SC), Almoez Ali (Al Duhail SC) and Pedro Miguel (Al Sadd SC)
Breakthrough:
The 23 years old Tunisian born Mohammed Al-Mannai (Al Shamal SC) who made his debut for Al-Sadd as a teenager is the guy I choose to have the breakthrough as he is one of the only players below 25 too.
Tactics/Keypoints:
Keypoint for Qatar is definitely setting Akram Afif up to deliver some creativity to the squad if they want to stand a chance in creating something in front of goal. I expect them to have a very hard time defensively, which could lead to them playing a lot of long balls as playing out certainly could cause trouble.
Formation:
They will come most likely in a 4-2-3-1.
Short summary of lineup choices:
Question marks stand in Mohamedd Al-Mannai starting, but I fancy him starting to add some more young blood to the team. He adds physical presence in midfield, where he can play pretty much anywhere, from a holding role to further up the pitch.

The two midfielders Thomas Jørgensen (Viborg) and Justin Janssen (FC Nordsjælland) has really caught a eye this year in the Danish Superliga. Thomas is an outstanding playmaking midfielder, who offers hard work beside his creativity. Justin Janssen is absouletly stunning with the ball and just seems to be unique on the way he controls the game with calmness. I like them a lot and these players could make a seriouss midfield for Denmark in some years.
