Russian economy has cancer. Exports up for now - oil prices are up, volumes have not changed.

BUT

Because of sanctions Russia cannot buy anything. It receives dollars, cannot spend them -> ruble is up

Long-term economy will continue to weaken

my explanation why Russian ruble is so strong:

you meet a friend, have not seen him in a long time. he lost a lot of weight

He may have lost weight because he is working out/eating well

Or

Because he has cancer
